Within our Oncology Chemistry Drug Discovery team, we are looking for two motivated trainees for a 6-months period to participate in the discovery of new drug-like small molecules as well as the optimization of molecular probes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with a team of Medicinal Chemists in an R&D lab
  • Perform reactions on laboratory scale (mg to multi g) according to known and new procedures
  • Monitor reaction progress using TLC, LC-MS, etc.
  • Interpret reaction monitoring data
  • Purify reaction products using standard techniques e.g. (automated) column chromatography, prep. HPLC or crystallization
  • Perform compound analysis (e.g. 1H and 13C NMR, etc.)
  • Interpret analytical data (NMR)
  • Clearly document and communicate practical work using electronic lab journal
Candidate’s Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Chemistry or related field
  • Experience in preparative organic synthesis to carry out reactions on a laboratory scale according to known or new procedures
  • Routine use of modern methods to purify and characterize organic compounds (e.g. column chromatography, automated column chromatography, HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, GC, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn new skills and techniques
  • Well-organized, flexible in work assignment and work schedule
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Good communication and team-working skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good English skills (spoken and written)
