Reporting to Chief Underwriter Financial Lines Commercial (AT, CH, EE) you will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalized solutions as well as developing new relationships. You will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business targets regionally including global elements. Your responsibilities also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions, acquiring new business and retaining existing business.

In this role you will….
  • Underwrite in line with Allianz/AGCS governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles
  • Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
  • Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Distribution, Risk Consulting, Claims, Operations
  • Manage referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate
  • Contribute to the development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for Financial Lines
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)
  • Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers (where it is AGCS’ responsibility to do so) or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility).

  • Degree either in Economics, Business Administration, Law or other appropriate discipline
  • Preferably at least 2 years’ experience as an Underwriter, Broker or relevant equivalent in the Financial Lines sector
  • Good understanding of regional / local financial lines insurance markets, including competitor, client and broker landscape
  • Experience working in a complex, global matrix organization would be an advantage
  • Ability to assess risk inherent exposures relevant to the product
  • Ability to analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business and customer needs
  • Robust understanding of the policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to express ideas and messages clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
  • You embrace agile working and engage in constant learning, to adapt to internal and external customer needs
  • Fluent in English and German, French skills are an advantage
