Janssen Supply Chain (JSC), is recruiting for a Value Chain Lead (VCL). This is 1 of 2 positions currently available - both are applied for when applying with this posting.

Janssen Supply Chain is a global organization responsible for supplying medicines to markets around the world. With Quality as their primary focus, this group strives to provide access and affordability through innovation and strong collaboration with their R&D and Commercial partners to deliver life changing solutions for patients in need.

The VCL – Launch and Growth, small molecules is accountable for Value Chain design and execution, from Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient to Finished Goods distribution, related to strategic oversight and management of line extensions and pediatric programs (from development through commercial optimization).

The individual will ensure that the efforts are fully aligned with the overall brand product strategy owned by the respective VCLs. The VCL will lead all JSC activities and resources that are needed for their portfolio, including sourcing, cost-efficient tech transfer to commercial sites, launch in global commercial markets, Value chain risk management and ensuring supply sustainability, until the product is transferred to the Value Optimization Team.

Responsibilities:

The Value Chain Lead, Launch and Growth, small molecules will lead global, cross-functional, multidisciplinary Value Chain Teams (VCTs), with full accountability for:

  • Line extension product strategy and execution in alignment with the brand PSR, Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls & Global Commercial Teams (GCTs) assuring JSC deliverables to accomplish CMC milestones are met

  • Initial sourcing of the product, and future sourcing sites as necessary

  • The strategic direction for the brand relative to the supply chain, developing the Product Strategy Roadmap, preparing the business cases for Life Cycle Management (LCM) prioritization, articulating these business cases to stakeholders to secure funding, and assuring the approved LCM plan is executed by relevant parties within and outside JSC

  • The identification, mitigation and communication of supply chain related risks through the development, launch readiness, and product/process optimization stages.

  • Ensuring the commercial strategy and customer needs of the line extensions are incorporated into the development of the launch strategy, product supply chain strategy, and are fully aligned with the overall brand Product Strategy Roadmap (PSR).

  • Championing commercialization of the best, optimized product, process and supply chain at launch

  • Product performance metrics (e.g. COGS, Cycle Time, trade-offs)

  • Leading Issue Management Teams as necessary

  • Building strong interdependent partnerships and run the communication effectively with key stakeholders in Discovery, Pharmaceutical Development and Supply (DPDS), and Janssen Supply Chain (JSC), and our partners in the Commercial organization.

  • Representing JSC in CMC teams. As required, represents JSC in Compound Development Teams, Global Commercial Teams, Integrated Brand Value Teams and Disease Area Strongholds

  • Mentoring and providing feedback to VCT members and their functional management on performance within the VCT. Will provide guidance to the VCT members in the resolution of conflicts, both of technical and business nature.

  • Challenging the status-quo, driving innovative approaches & concepts, embedding Faster Forward principles and customer centricity in his/her Team’s activities



Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required. An advanced technical degree (MSc, PhD) or an MBA degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, advanced technical degree is preferred.

  • Understanding of the development and manufacturing process of pharmaceutical products

  • Broad Supply Chain as well as R&D experience is preferred. Deep understanding of E2E Supply Chain Design and execution, API/DP Operations and Manufacturing, Technical Transfers, New Product Development and introduction, Quality and Regulatory, in pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar industry

  • Experience leading cross-functional global teams to success

  • Understanding of business requirements and supply chain product metrics, proven ability to improve supply chain metrics

  • Ability to prepare cost benefit analyses and articulate business cases for stakeholders’ approvals, make sound business and customer centric decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries through influence, negotiation and partnering

  • Strong written and oral communication skills at all levels (English)

  • This position will require up to 20% international and domestic travel.
