International Operations (IO), the largest commercial unit in Novo Nordisk, is looking for a talented leader to head up our newly established Finance Excellence, Digital & Compliance function.

About International Operations

IO is responsible for all commercial activities across the globe (ex US/Canada). IO’s 16.000 employees are split into seven regions, spread across every continent of the globe with a head office (IO Strategic Operations (IO-SO) based at “the Circle” nearby Zurich-Airport, Switzerland.

The position

As the Vice President Finance Excellence, Digital & Compliance (VP), you will report to the Senior Vice President for Finance & Operations (Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Digital, Data & IT), and drive the function responsible for continuous improvement of key finance processes, driving a strong financial compliance mindset, and shaping of and implement the future digital infrastructure and system landscape, across the 7 regions in IO.

The VP will become a member of the IO Finance & Operations Leadership Team, several global leadership teams and steering groups including heading up the IO Finance Excellence Leadership Team. This requires a strong finance technical background as well as great stakeholder management and leadership skills.

The main accountabilities of the role are:

Ensuring Financial Operations & Compliance
  • Responsible for Tax, Treasury & Accounting strategies & blueprints
  • Drive operational efficiencies among regions and affiliates within key finance processes (R2R, P2P, O2C, Tax, Treasury) through process standardisation, optimisation and digitalisation
  • Secure a strong collaboration with our Global Finance Process Owners and our Global Business Service unit in India
  • Secure financial compliance/”House in Order” and Sarbox & Minimum Controls across all regions and affiliates
  • Head up IO Finance Excellence Leadership Team
Driving Finance Digital Infrastructure & Business Intelligence
  • Centre of Excellence for financial infrastructure and data in IO
  • Shaping of and implementing digital infrastructure and system landscape e.g., S/4 HANA
  • Representing IO in global financial infrastructure projects
  • Developing BI tools/apps and roll-out for IO finance organisation
Overall responsible for finance of our legal entity
  • Financial/tax management (incl. controlling, planning, reporting, tax)
  • Accounting, Tax & expense reporting for our company unit in Zurich
Delivering on Finance Business Development
  • Drive and implement our Global Finance Strategy
  • Sparring, prioritisation & cross-unit collaboration
  • People Development & D&I acceleration
  • Representative in StG/Digital committees

Qualifications

You hold a degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or similar with more than 10 years of experience within Finance, international experience and in-depth experience with key accounting, compliance and tax processes as well as financial digital infrastructure/systems and business intelligence tools from a large, global organisation.

You are a strong and ambitious leader with a proven track record of managing a team successfully, setting a clear direction and executing on key priorities. You possess strong business acumen and in-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting standards and practices.

As a person, you have high integrity and ethical standards. You are pragmatic and can propose simple solutions to the line of business with strong executional skills. You have high impact and can advise senior management in complex technical and business-related matters. You are a strong communicator and can lead group discussions, aligning with others to reach business results. To be fluent in both written and spoken English as a requirement.

Travel-days of up to 30% can be expected. As the IO-SO Hub is to serve as a talent incubator to the organisation, international mobility within a time horizon of 3 years is a requirement.
