Purpose

The Vice President, Global Logistics will be an integral part of the Logistics & Distribution management team developing and driving global strategy, innovation and consistency of the adidas-Group Logistics landscape. In this critical role the person will be responsible for operational excellence and best practices across the logistics network, deliver sustain and profitable process improvements and services through the development and implementation of strategic initiatives, elevate (provider) service performance and strengthen the effectiveness of our relationships with our Transportation operations / partners from a commercial and legal point of view. Functional oversight responsibility encompasses Transport & Logistics, 3PL Strategy & Management, Labelling / Handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and steer the logistics vision and strategy to optimize the global functional infrastructure and system landscape considering all markets, channels and services in the adidas-Group. Review and create short-, mid- and long-term strategy from a E2E logistics viewpoint.
  • Accountable for business process improvements through the development and implementation of strategic initiatives within the logistics network while enhance logistics performance and efficiency from factory door to customer shelf.
  • Create and drive a work environment that engages employees at all levels in the organization to simplify and standardize processes, improve quality, service and continually reduce costs.
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network increasing efficiencies year by year.
  • Provides scalable, robust and flexible Logistics and Transportation Services from factories to decoupling points and distribution centers including the transportation from these points and DCs within the respective sales channels.
  • Build, change and manage a world-class logistics service provider asset base with processes and services to fulfill business requirements.
  • Partner with global Procurement to ensure fit for purpose contract set up and partner relations are set up to support the strategic direction.
  • Further drive the evolution of above market capabilities to ensure fast decision making in highly standardized environment while operating in an agile manner.
  • Lead, steer and develop the industry-leading Global Logistics organization in all relevant functional projects for all brands and sales channels within the adidas-Group.
  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines.
  • Act as a role model in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations as well as the adidas Fair Play Code of Conduct and other internal policies
Communication
  • Ensure transparency and clarity to key stakeholders.
  • Foster a proactive and creative dialogue where individuals gain other people’s perspectives on critical and complex issues.
  • Use appropriate and effective communication methods to Senior Leadership and Executives.
People Management
  • Build the appropriate inclusive and diverse team structure to be able to manage the respective organization effectively, identify and develop the future talents and create realistic succession scenarios for key positions
  • Ensure appropriate leadership skills are present at every level by creating a motivational and supportive work environment.
  • Invest in future talents through Coaching and Mentoring, supporting internal processes around recruitment and onboarding and celebrating SCM as an employer of choice
  • Provide team members/direct reports with clear direction and targets that are aligned with business needs and SCM objectives.
  • Establish innovation and continuous improvements culture.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities
  • Good knowledge of inbound transport logistics, warehouse and outbound transport operations is a plus
  • Understanding of the bigger picture and end-to-end supply chain with the focus on transportation (factory to DC)
  • Recent experience and current knowledge of Transportation systems capabilities, and technology platforms (real-time visibility, control tower)
  • Knowledge of operational performance management and Continuous Improvement principles

  • Team player, high degree of self-management, enthusiasm, drives to perform.
  • Business mindset: strong numerical and analytical skills, experience in finance.
  • Strong record of successfully applying problem solving and project management skills & tools including good planning and organization skills.

  • Ability to travel, domestic or international, as required
  • Fluent English (verbal and written)
Qualifications
  • Four-year college or university degree with focus on supply chain management, logistics, business, economics, supply chain or information systems or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA is a plus.
  • Vast experience in multi-national supply chain/logistics/transportation work experience in fast moving consumer goods industry (preferably apparel, fashion background).
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive work experience in respective leadership position in combination of operational and project responsibility.
  • Proven track record in driving change.
  • Min. of 5 years’ experience in managing international teams in a global organization.
