The MD organization encompasses four Franchises (Ethicon, CSS, DPS and JJV), spanning four geographic regions (EMEA, LATAM, ASPAC and North America). The Medical Devices Supply Chain supports $23 billion USD in Sales, Global Inventory (gross) of $4.8 billion, and > 180,000 SKUs. The EMEA region has sales of approx. $2Bn for Depuy Synthes, $2Bn for Ethicon and $0.75Bn for CSS.
JOB SUMMARY
The Vice President EMEA Regional Supply Chain, Medical Devices is responsible for developing and leading the Regional Supply Chain performance while developing the capabilities to enable outstanding performance in customer service performance and cash optimization. This will be achieved through the deployment of a clear regional vision and strategy, aligned with the global MD SC vision and strategy. This role will be operating with a globally aligned operating model, collaborating with all the relevant global SC functions. Best in class supply chain processes will be deployed, coupled with the recruitment and development of outstanding talent. This role identifies and applies best practice End-to-End Supply Chain approaches to drive regional performance priorities and metrics.
This role brings together the Affiliate and Regional Supply Chains to ensure specific Supply Chain programs are deployed and demand signals are optimized. This will be achieved by driving strong integration and collaboration between the SC teams and the affiliate and regional business partners (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance…). This role will own the deployment of the affiliate and regional S&OP processes. Also, this role will oversee the deployment of Supply Chain specific programs to improve the overall SC performance. The Regional Supply Chain will work together with the Global SC Franchise teams to align on the deployment of specific programs benefiting the region and the global supply chain. The Regional Supply Chain Leader will ensure close collaboration between his team and the Regional MD LT as well as between the Regional and Global Planning teams to optimize the demand and supply planning for the MD Supply Chain. This leadership role will drive the affiliate and regional process capability, deploying standardization and automation of processes and systems.
This role includes functional responsibility for the Regional End-to-End SC Execution. This includes Regional SC financial performance, Product Portfolio Mgt, Asset Mgt, Cost-to-Serve, Flow Optimization, Customer facing processes, Demand Planning, Affiliate and Regional S&OP, Affiliate and Regional Inventory management, Affiliate and Regional Reporting and Analytics…In addition, this role will work closely together with the Deliver teams and oversee the Deliver performance while reviewing progress and drive improvement
The Affiliate SC leaders as well as the Regional Franchise SC Leaders will report directly to this position.
This leader will report to the Vice President Regional Supply Chain and Global Planning Medical Devices and serve as a member of the Regional Medical Devices Leadership team as well as the Medical Devices SC Leadership team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure a powerful and inspiring Vision and Strategy aligned to EMEA MD and SC needs
• Develop, communicate, and reinforce an inspiring vision and strategy to the affiliate and regional supply chain teams to deliver best in class End-to-End processes and capabilities in support of the MD business
• The vision and strategy must deliver customer connectivity and seamless integration – with speed and agility - through a deep understanding of regional customer needs through regular connection and assessment.
• Strategies need to ensure growth priorities are anticipated and planned for, by an organization that has deep product and business understanding.
• External perspectives are critical to embed the latest technology, systems, automation and digital capacities into the ongoing operating model to deliver the vision and strategies in an efficient and effective manner.
Deliver significantly improved performance in Supply Chain Reliability, and Cash Optimization
• Ensure a strong partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders across the Supply Chain and the Affiliate and Regional Commercial teams to translate customer needs.
• Deliver outstanding Reliable Supply (Service) with appropriate metrics e.g., OTIF@D/S/A.
• Ensure rapid response to events and issues, in alignment with the global teams, with analysis to assess root cause
• Ensure optimal cash management of Inventory ($ and DOS), minimize E&O, SLOB
• Drive continuous improvement in forecast accuracy (MAPE / Bias) linked to Sales and Financial forecasts
• Implement strong focus on agility with appropriate metrics to show flexibility and responsiveness, particularly on strategic products.
• Partner with Global teams and leaders to share and leverage resources, benchmarks and best practices
Build and deploy “best in class” Processes
• Translate customer needs flawlessly - with speed - to supply points, inclusive of patients, HCP’s, hospitals, distributors commercial leadership and sales force.
• Drive process standardization in the affiliates and at regional level, based on best practices and emphasis on the SCOR model.
• Ensure focused Service and Inventory management processes to drive accountability with the affiliate and regional teams on short-, medium- and long-term performance measures
• Ensure clear communication and updates on event management within the EMEA MD as well as the MD SC teams. Be responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to all stakeholders from sales force to senior management level as required
• Enable “best in class” S&OP processes supporting local needs through to executive engagement and alignment.
• Enable PMR (Portfolio Management Review) and LCM (Life Cycle Management) processes to ensure an optimal affiliate and regional product portfolio, with insights to drive GP improvement.
• Ensure strong regional forecasting, integrated to the LRFP’s and updated at least twice annually, built on strong partnership with commercial
• Contribute to the global strategic capacity planning to provide appropriate visibility to long term regional growth to enable sufficient production capacity to fulfill the market requirements over the LRFP
• Plan and deliver the annual regional BP and subsequent quarterly updates to meet and exceed business requirements
• Partner closely with Deliver on Customer Order Management and effective, efficient demand fulfillments.
• Partner with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a clear roadmap for optimized regional asset management and strong integration into the plan processes.
• Partner with regional commercial teams on long term demand planning, strategic forecasts as an input to the global strategic capacity planning
• Provide timely demand signals to the global planning teams.
• Collaborate with the global franchise SC teams to ensure robust New Product Launch planning to meet reliability needs and provide flexibility whilst minimizing inventory
• Provide Data and Analytics capability to generate insights on performance and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with the global MD SC SI&D team to ensure BCP, SC reliance, Flow Optimization and Network optimization
• Ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.
• Take responsivity for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Regional, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
Advance and leverage the latest Technology
• Ensure the latest understanding of technology and how it can be implemented to drive improved customer performance.
• Contribute to the deployment of the ERP, Digital SC roadmap and customer solutions.
• Drive automation of processes, where possible, using the latest digital technologies
• Partner with commercial to drive innovation in business models and customer connectivity.
• Ensure strong external focus and benchmarking to bring new perspectives and insights - working with MD SI&D SC to ensure leverage.
• Drive the team adoption of advanced technologies to improve SC performance, SC visibility and asset performance end to end.
