Job Overview

The VP Engineering is a strong people manager who is passionate about driving the full talent lifecycle for the engineering organization, holding accountability for creating a healthy culture of support, growth and excitement that empowers the engineering organization to meet the challenging needs of customers and our business. The VP engineering is also accountable for the oversight, prioritization and delivery of the results needed by the organization.

The person in this role will be an integral part of the leadership team, collaborating closely with the CTO, and partnering with our team leads to convey our company vision and strategy that enables Auterion to scale. This role is based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Responsibilities

  • People management responsibility for a team of about 50+ highly motivated and qualified engineers
  • Build a career path for all team members, ensure training and offer options for new challenges to enable a long-term career at the company
  • Define roles and responsibilities, show opportunities, evaluate performance and promote team members
  • Optimize the performance of the team, define new profiles and hire new team members
  • Take feedback from team members and ensure discipline and fairness in the team
  • Ensure that results do not come at the expense of long-term growth, retention, or psychological safety within the teams
  • Convey the essential goals to the team, and deliver results against Auterion’s strategic objectives
  • Oversight, prioritization and delivery of results and projects, ensuring quality and within deadlines
  • Establish a close collaboration with the Executive Team and the team leads

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with leadership of technical team members
  • 8+ years of experience in software development / software engineering
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Leadership skills with a high level of empathy to create and safeguard effective teams
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Startup mindset, "can-do" attitude
  • Great organization, moderation and interpersonal relationship skills paired with strong assertiveness and empathy
