Description

Are you an experienced cloud architect/developer who can assist our customers in architecting, developing and re-engineering applications that can fully leverage the AWS Cloud? Do you like to work on a variety of game changing projects, at the forefront of application modernization, development and cloud technology adoption?

In order for applications to be cloud optimized they need to be architected correctly enabling them to reap the benefits of elasticity, horizontal scalability, automation and high availability. On the AWS platform services such as Amazon EC2, Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Amazon Elastic Container Services to name just a few, provide opportunities to design and build cloud ready applications.

Amazon Web Services is looking for highly talented hands on application architects to help accelerate our growing Professional Services business. Professional Services engage in a wide variety of projects for customers and partners, providing collective experience from across the AWS customer base and are obsessed about strong success for the Customer. Our team collaborates across the entire AWS organization to bring access to product and service teams, to get the right solution delivered and drive feature innovation based upon customer needs.

This is a customer facing role. You will be required to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
  • 5+ years of large-scale software development or application engineering with recent coding experience in two or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Node.js, .NET, Python, PHP or Ruby
  • 3+ years of experience as a technical specialist in Customer-facing roles
  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies
  • Good experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Current hands-on implementation experience required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Math.
  • Architecting, designing and developing applications on the AWS platform
  • Designing and building application using Container and serverless technologies
  • Experience architecting highly available systems that utilize load balancing, horizontal scalability and high availability
  • Good exposure to Agile software development and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Continuous Integration and automated deployment
  • Continuous Integration (CI) tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Configuration Management platforms (e.g. Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible) Strong practical application development experience on Linux and Windows-based systems
  • Presenting at public events such as technology conferences, hackathons, etc
  • Experience working directly with customers, partners or third-party developers
  • Blogging or writing technical articles or contributing to an open source project for new and existing technologies or application architecture and design
