We are looking for a savvy, hardworking intern that wants to gather experience as an ESG Data Engineer/Analyst for our Sustainable Investment Research team. Sustainable investment is the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into financial analysis. At J. Safra Sarasin, sustainability is consistently integrated into every step of the investment process. We need help to continue to improve the health of our ESG database and ESG research environment that underpins all of that. Together with you we want to make our ESG database and our ESG research environment easier to use, more accessible, make it support more use cases, improve performance and research output.
Responsibilities
- Building, running and optimizing the ETL processes & data pipelines that power our ESG database.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes for greater scalability, optimizing data staging and data delivery, etc.
- Contribute & review our ESG research codebase.
- Programming outlier detection and quality checks for JSS ESG Analytics.
- Contributing to further develop the tools that our Sustainable Investment Analysts use on a daily basis.
Profiles
- Recent graduate or advanced students in the fields of Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Finance or another quantitative field.
- SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases.
- Experience in the modern Python ecosystem as well as in Excel & VBA.
- Perhaps you’ve had a university project that can showcase your technical experience. It would be great if you could address this in your cover letter!
- Good organizational skills.
- English or German.
