JOB PURPOSE
Product Development Engineer is responsible for driving product developments, from idea creation to product launch and customer implementation - with a strong focus on Amcor’s Sustainability targets. The product scope is aluminum based single serve packaging applications. This role requires a collaborative, flexible and dynamic approach, having close links with customers, manufacturing sites, marketing, product management, sales, raw material suppliers and other R&D teams, to deliver breakthrough innovations leading to long term sales and profitable growth.
The major challenges you would face are:
  • Coordination and effective communication with several functions and levels in the organization
  • Innovation thinking to find new and more effective solutions to drive for results
  • High responsiveness, flexibility and availability to support customers

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsible for New Product Development project management from idea creation to customer implementation, in coordination with the Cross Functional team
  • Responsible for Improvement and Maintenance projects on existing product portfolio
  • Technical support to customers, Sales and Marketing
  • Evaluation and Substitution of raw materials (focus on lacquers, adhesives, inks & aluminum) for new developments or driven by regulatory or contingency
  • Coordination with raw material suppliers, customers, packaging machine manufacturers, Sales, Marketing and other functions

What you bring:
  • Technical knowledge about packaging materials, raw materials and converting processes
  • Good project management in a complex environment
  • Chemical engineer or related science/ packaging technologist
  • Knowledge of lacquers, adhesives, inks & aluminum is an asset
  • Preferably minimum 3 years of related experience in the packaging industry
  • Fluent in German and English, French is a plus
  • Willingness to travel 10/20% of time
  • Good customer focus and innovative thinking
  • Strong team player with ability to build relationships
