What we do


The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.


Purpose


The associate in the Eurasia Individual Giving team plays a critical role to support the manager and digital officer to ensure digital strategy is brought to life. During the 12 months of the associateship, the candidate will contribute to the execution of the digital strategy, ensuring digital donor journey are implemented for the concerned regional audience. Working within different channels, the associate will help the Eurasia Region team (with a focus on Switzerland) with the objective to reach existing donors and acquire new ones online. The candidate will also help in the analytics part, with preparation of results from previous campaign (digital and none), and overall Mass donors’ income.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities


  • Support the fundraising and marketing activities to engage prospective and existing donors and contribute to ensure that digital campaigns are delivered on time and continuously optimized
  • Support the team and the agency with the paid media campaigns for Paid Search, Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Display – including the creation of asset, feedback on the plan, and target definition
  • Contribute to the execution of the marketing plans
  • Contribute to the e-mail journey activation including support needed for the content/e-mail preparation
  • Collect information about the ICRC’s operations for content creation (pictures, stories, achievements) and contribute to fine-tuning appealing narratives for fundraising campaign (including e-mail programs)
  • Support the team in other direct marketing activities and projects also related to offline activities
  • Help in keeping track of and assesses market trends and benchmarks
  • Provide support to initiatives involving private sector audiences and National Societies of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (e.g. the One Campaign)
  • Support the Eurasia PSE Head in specific transversal tasks (e.g. information management, MoM, setting-up keynotes...)
  • Assist on other tasks not listed here.

Data and Reporting:

  • Help to prepare (monthly) reports for both online and offline campaign, creating reports using the existing tableau (e.g., by monitoring financial income from donors, preparing briefings files, power point presentations), including some insights and potential recommendations,
  • Reporting on paid media campaigns for Paid Search, Facebook/Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Display

Relationships


  • Internally: individual giving team, broader Eurasia PS team, REM Center of Expertise, REM IDC (both donor care and analytics), Comm colleagues (Xmedia/CODE)
  • Externally: agency (digital agency, creative agency), freelance

Experience required


12 months of professional experience are considered an asset, especially on the below fields:

  • Experience in digital (including launching, optimizing, analyzing, and reporting on multi-channel digital campaigns) with some fundraising experience or a strong interest to develop fundraising skills
  • Some experience navigating analytics tools and reporting

First experience of working or volunteering in one of the following areas are an asset:

  • International or national humanitarian, social or cultural organizations
  • The Red Cross Movement
  • Marketing, communication, or customer relation
  • Corporate social responsibility

Certifications / Education required


  • Bachelor degree in Economics, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communication International Relations, Social Sciences, Literature, Arts or equivalent education.
  • Google Ads and Analytics certifications are a plus
  • Fluent in English and another language between French and/or German
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Engaging personality.
  • Attention to detail
  • Good comprehension of Swiss social, economic, political and current issues.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work within defined timelines.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills, flexible and efficient manner.
  • Team player.
  • Passion for humanitarian work and ability to operate in a complex international organization.
  • Understanding of customer relationship management and philanthropic issues is an asset.
