As part of the Global Strategic Marketing team, you will work closely with the EMEA Sales and Marketing teams to identify actors producing and conducting business in contravention of FMC’s IP rights within the region, and will liaise with the legal team in order to minimize the impact to FMC of their activities.

Collaborate with the regional regulatory and marketing teams to coordinate the collection of intelligence of legitimate actors preparing for the expiration of IP rights to identify local advocacy efforts in support of these goals.

  • Gathering intelligence on diamide production in EMEA:
  • Engage with the EMEA, Legal, Procurement, Regulatory, Marketing & Sales, and Public & Industry Affairs teams to collect intelligence about producers of technical grade diamides in the region.
  • Work closely with the Global Brand Protection Manager to investigate leads in EMEA generated as part of global intelligence-gathering efforts.
  • Monitor for and obtain approvals or permits that may pertain to diamide production. Work with technical experts to interpret these approvals
  • Develop a relationship with key industry players to assist in intelligence gathering activities.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in China and India to share best practices
  • Oversee investigations into potential breaches of FMC intellectual property rights identified in the market, such as "fake" (replica) FMC products, unauthorized sale of formulations that include proprietary FMC active ingredients (either labeled or unlabelled/hidden in the product for sale):
  • Work with the field force to coordinate investigations, sample collection, and follow up activities
  • Liaise with field force, legal and local authorities to instigate enforcement actions by local authorities, in line with pre-agreed criteria for such activities.
  • Support enforcement activities
  • Coordinate collection of more detailed intelligence in line with the direction of agreed enforcement strategy
  • Advocacy concerning Brand Protection
  • Work with Regulatory and Public & Industry Affairs on advocacy strategies that encourage governments to take appropriate action against actors producing, distributing, or selling infringing products.
  • Co-represent FMC in the CropLife Stewardship & Anti-Counterfeiting Committee.
  • Internal reporting and communications
  • Prepare reports on results of intelligence gathering activities at a regular frequency to ensure relevant functions are informed of developments
  • Ensure regional alignment with global objectives
  • Coordinate with Global Brand Protection Manager to ensure that brand protection activities in EMEA are consistent with global strategy.

The Successful Applicant

We are looking for a candidate with a legal or R&D background and who has a proven experience working as a Brand Protection Manager in a regulated industry.

  • You have a degree in law (intellectual property) or in a technical industry (Chemistry, Engineering or Agricultural Sciences)
  • Previous experience as a Brand Protection Manager
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a regulated industry
  • Strong leadership experience, including experience in influencing others, taking the initiative to deliver high-quality results, and creating an environment that engenders teamwork and innovation
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiating, managerial courage, conflict management, composure, and organizational agility.
  • Strong English, written and oral presentations skills.
