For an international company in the global agribusiness market in Basel we are looking for a

Business Analyst, Trialing - temporary position, start asap until March 2022

Your challenges
  • Provide business analysis capabilities within the Crop Protection Research and Development Information Technology Field Trialing domain
  • Work closely with Key Users, Product Owners, Project Managers, Platform Analyst, Platform Managers, Technology Leads, and Development teams to define and deliver IT change in an agile manner.
  • Identify and document requirements (e.g. Epics and User Stories) that meet user needs and align with the CP R&D strategy.
  • Engages with other IT, digital and R&D functions to ensure capabilities are recognised and integrated across functional boundaries.
  • Works closely with the Field Trialing Business Analysis team to share learnings and agree best practice.
  • Developing deep knowledge within the CP R&D IT Trialing domain, including but not limited to understanding of people, processes, technologies in use, information landscape, bottlenecks, gaps and opportunities.
  • Conducting front end business analysis including project scoping and appropriate challenge back to R&D team.
  • Ensuring business analysis activities are performed in an agile manner.
  • Collecting and validating high level and detailed requirements.
  • Creating supporting artefacts for the requirements (e.g. ERD, process maps, decision models, stakeholder maps etc.)
  • Delivering larger, more complicated initiatives across multiple R&D functions.
  • Working with Technology Leads and Data Scientists in generating and evaluating solution options.
  • Working with data architects in mapping data to business functions and applications.
Your Skills
  • University Bachelor’s Degree
  • Good knowledge of business analysis methodologies and associated best practices with an analytical mindset
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, KANBAN, SAFe, etc.)
  • IT, data science and data management
  • Plant Breeding / Biotechnology / Life Sciences / Chemistry / Biology
  • 5-10 years delivering scientific computing solutions to clients (preferably namely R&D clients)
  • 5+ years in R&D environment is a plus
  • 5+ years experience in IT business analysis, in addition experience in business relationship management is a plus
  • Experience in an analyst role for multiple projects using Agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to document existing business process, optimize, and deliver real business change to accompany software deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a geographically and culturally diverse development effort
  • Awareness of emerging technologies preferred
  • Understanding of overall Syngenta business strategy and must wins is a plus
  • Experience working with a diverse range of technologies and platforms, especially with regards to cheminformatics, LIMS, integration, data analytics, and reporting. Experience working with computational models would be desirable.
  • Good understanding of Crop Protection Development processes with a focus on Product Biology and Field Trialing.
  • Ability to identify and resolve project impacts in a changing environment.
  • Be a self-starter. Proactively collaborate to understand goals from design and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills and capabilities to clearly articulate challenges back to customer groups.
  • Be comfortable with an iterative process in an agile environment.
