Functional Responsibilities:- Global communication support
- Draft or provide input into publications, communication and advocacy products as requested, ensuring high quality standards and the correct application of the SUN Movement branding guidelines and publishing standards.
- In collaboration with colleagues across the SUN Movement Secretariat, lead the preparation of the SUN Annual Report.
- Under the guidance of subject matter owners, curate content for specific, targeted hard copy publications in support of the overall communication strategy; collaborate with external contractors for quality, design and production of materials.
- Social Media:
- Update external and internal digital communication platforms such as the SUN Movement website, social media accounts, Intranet and on-line/web-based collaboration platforms, etc. as requested.
- Develop news feature stories and profile pieces for the SUN Movement website and other digital platforms to raise visibility of the Movement’s achievements.
- Develop social media campaigns/outreach plans for special events and topics as requested.
- Manage social media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, facilitating active engagement with all audiences creating an effective dialogue.
- Communication Monitoring:
- Collect and analyse communication and social media metrics to gauge reach, engagement and other performance measures.
- Assist the Communication and Advocacy Advisor to analyse media in the areas related to the SUN Movement’s priorities, as well as other issues relevant to the UN brand and positioning.
- Knowledge management and innovation:
- Compile and analyse communication experiences and share findings with country, regional and global colleagues to facilitate best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and train SUN Secretariat personnel on best practices around using social media for outreach and advocacy.
- Contribute to the development and introduction of innovation to ensure the SMS is continually incorporating best practice approaches.
The effective and successful achievement of results will support the SUN Movement and its Secretariat to achieve in-country nutrition impact and its vision of a world free from malnutrition in all its forms by 2030.
Education: B. Work Experience: C. Language:
- Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, International Development or other relevant discipline is required.
- A bachelor’s degree with a combination of two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the master’s degree.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in communication or related fields is required.
- Professional experience in an international working environment or in a developing country setting is required.
- Experience in conceptualising, producing, and managing the production of communications materials, including (not limited to) press releases, media advisories, blogs, talking points, photos, videos, podcasts, infographics, virtual events, videos, animations, and social media is desirable.
- Experience managing websites hosting a variety of content across digital media is desirable.
- Experience with design software packages is desirable.
- Experience in video production is desirable
- Fluency in English Language ( Writing, Reading and Speaking) is required.
- Knowledge of another official UNOPS language, particularly French is an asset.
