Role objectives

The Cross Commodity Originator will be responsible for supporting the development of origination activities of the GM&T Eastern European Team. The primary requirement of this role is to identify, develop and execute origination opportunities in Eastern Europe focusing on Gas, Gas to Power, LNG to pipeline swaps, new/traditional power flexibility and green certificates. Focus will be on the following countries – Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia Hungary, Macedonia, Greece and Turkey.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will be based in Zug and work as part of the Eastern European team which is well established player with a proven track record of profitable operations in Eastern Europe for over 10 years
  • Build on the existing capabilities and experience to bring in new business from Eastern Europe.
  • Originate and close traditional Gas and Gas to Power as well as innovative structures (such as green certificate or Renewables PPA) in Eastern Europe; assist in the effective integration of such transactions within the organisation.
  • Actively look for origination opportunities in Eastern Europe by frequently meeting with generators, suppliers, developers and other relevant counterparties.
  • Develop new origination ideas based on market developments and client interactions
  • Ensure transactions meet relevant policies and standards; provide clear and effective commercial expertise to contract drafting and review; promote effective integration of these transactions into the business
  • Build strategic relationships with core internal business partners for example Trading desk, optimisation, analytics, risk, IT, etc.

  • Fluent in English and other European languages, would be a definite advantage.
Experience
  • Demonstrable experience in the energy industry with a specific focus on Eastern Europe
  • Able to bring a client base and products to GM&T
  • Proven track record of Gas & Power origination and successfully closing of a wide variety of gas, power and gas-to-power transactions in Eastern Europe
  • Excellent understanding of the Gas and Power industry and marketing and trading activity specifics (e.g. system operation, products, customers and counter-parties)
  • Expert understanding of all key commercial terms and conditions in key commercial structures and exposure to cross-commodity.
Education
  • Educated to degree level, masters preferable, or equivalent experience.
  • English speaker with additional Eastern European language preferable
