- All IIIM’s Data Protection stakeholders (including but not limited to Head and Deputy Head, as well as heads of sections) are consulted.
- The draft Data Protection Strategy is enforceable, practical, and endorsed by stakeholders.
- Draft Data Protection strategy and recommendations include realistic and efficient content that is mindful of the limitations, needs, and potential of the IIIM.
- Change agents are identified.
- Resource estimates provided are clear and well researched.
- Other tasks are performed to the satisfaction of supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities- Assessing IIIM’s data protection requirement (gap analysis and risk analysis) to comply with UN Personal Data Protection and Privacy Principles and IIIM’s internal policies and identifying recommended improvement areas for existing processes.
- Consulting with IIIM’s stakeholders regarding each stakeholder’s data protection requirements and responsibility, by means of organizing individual or group meetings, and record the notes and minutes of these consultations in the form of memo.
- Developing a draft IIIM Data Protection Strategy that includes:
. Technical, procedural, and organizational measures to guarantee data protection in IIIM;
. A practical definition of "Informed consent” placed in the context of the IIIM’s mandate;
. Updated and integrated data sharing agreements and informed consents;
. A definition and implementation of a template for an IIIM data protection impact assessment;
. Procedure to ensure lawfulness of data processing and sharing with reference to UN Personal Data Protection and Privacy Principles;
. Procedure to warrant documentation and notification of data breach as well as classification, management, and retention of records of decisions related to data breach/protection;
. Procedure for change management and a communication plan for promoting awareness of the strategy across IIIM stakeholders.
- Estimating resources required (in cost and time) to implement the strategy.
The candidate should be stationed in Geneva for the duration of the contract, however candidates who will only be able to work remotely may be considered with a need to travel to Geneva twice, each time for two weeks.

- Experience drafting an information governance or data protection policy, strategy, or related frameworks.
- Skill in communication, research, and analysis. Experience performing data protection impact assessment or privacy impact assessment. Familiarity with the concept of privacy by design.
- Knowledge of UN Personal Data Protection and Privacy Principles as well as similar data protection frameworks.
Experience: Minimum of five years extensive work experience as a Data Protection Officer / Expert / Specialist or any other similar position is required, or seven years of work experience in similar positions for a candidate with first degree.
Language: Fluency in English is required
