Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Footwear Designer will execute the Canada Goose Footwear design strategy for the Women’s collection, creating Performance Luxury product which reflects the Brand’s values and market relevance.

Alongside the Footwear Design Director, this role will be crucial in developing and evolving the design language of the Women’s footwear collection. Collaborating with all functions of the footwear category team to deliver collections which are market leading and deliver on the brand promise and strategic direction.

This role requires a good knowledge of footwear construction, a high level of creativity with an eye for detail and excellent understanding of designing products for a global brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Create new and innovative footwear designs which help drive the category objectives; work with Footwear Design Director, Product Development, 3D Design and factory partners to successfully realize designs through to final prototypes
• Design compelling colour and material executions across seasonal collections of new and existing styles in line with seasonal creative direction
• Work with Footwear Design Director to create a cohesive collection across men’s and women’s and ensure all materials meet brand’s criteria for quality, performance, sustainability and price
• Support Footwear Design Director in developing the design language and DNA for women’s footwear in line with overall brand and category direction
• Support the Footwear Team with continual research and insight
• Work with the Footwear Design Director and Product Development to observe and own seasonal project calendars, in relationship to the company calendar
• Work closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs meet the business objectives
• Enter all data required into PLM and updating as required for all styles determined by the Footwear Design Director
• Work closely with PDE and factory partners to communicate designs, BOMs and updates/changes throughout the prototype process.
• Work closely with 3D Design and Engineering Manager to support the creation of accurate 3D models for development and visualisation purposes.
  

Experience, Education And Designations

• Degree in Footwear, Industrial or Fashion design preferred; relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered
• 3-5+ years of working experience within a Global footwear brand
  

Knowledge, Skills And Attributes

• Knowledge of footwear construction and ability to work with development partners to successfully realise design concepts is a must
• An unquestioning sense of curiosity that pushes the boundaries of Canada Goose.
• Proven sketch and illustration skills
• Computer Skill; proficiency in Adobe Photoshop Illustrator is essential.
• Excellent verbal and visual communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work in a cross functional team and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion
• Knowledge of the footwear market and the ability to spot relevant emerging trends
• Understanding of brand DNA / Heritage and the ability to combine this with evolving trends and a modern iconic sensibility to create designs which are progressive while satisfying market needs.
• Well organised, proficient in time management
