UNICEF Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division is based in Geneva with the remit to serve the global organisation, including the network of 33 UNICEF National Committees, with leadership and technical support to achieve our goals of engaging with the Private Sector. The Programme Coordination Unit within PFP enables colleagues across the organisation to leverage game changing partnerships with UNICEF’s prioritized strategic private sector partners using Impact Content and by strategically connecting the “field” with the private sector.

How can you make a difference?

The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical expertise to support Pillars 1 and 2 of the Programme Coordination strategy, which is “Impact Content” and “Capacity Building – Connecting the Field to the Private Sector”. This will be done specifically to support one or more UNICEF regions (e.g. West and Central Africa, Middle East and North Africa, etc.). Impact Content is defined as a new set of investment cases and Accelerator Propositions for the private sector. These describe how Business, Key Influencers, and other Impact Plan audiences can create sustainable impact through partnership with UNICEF. Impact content is UNICEF’s strategic work for children “translated” for the private sector audience, using language that is compelling, investment-focused, and easily understandable by corporations, individuals, and foundations.

MAIN TASKS

The individual contractor will provide key support to the following tasks:
  • Development of Impact Content for a set of high priority programmatic themes


Development of Impact Content through staged deliverables for use by the private sector through a regional perspective, including investment cases and modular content for UNICEF Strategic Plan programmatic result areas. All Impact Content will be developed in close collaboration with PFP and Regional Offices (ROs), with the aim to be used both globally by our network of National Committees and global staff, and in the region to drive major partnerships, fundraising, and engagement with the private sector.
  • Bespoke Support for High Priority Partnerships


Within the new global Programme Coordination strategy based on guidance from ROs and PFP, the individual contractor will customize propositions for private sector partners.
  • Capacity Building with UNICEF Country Offices


Through implementation of Impact Content methodology, to support the development of content for trainings and specific capacity building initiatives in the region to Country Offices to support their local investment cases and partnerships.

DELIVERABLES

  • Finalize investment cases or concept notes for various regions (quantity and length to be agreed with the respective regions).
  • Finalize customized accelerator propositions for various regions (quantity and length to be agreed with the respective regions).
  • Training and other capacity building initiatives for various regions (quantity and length to be agreed with the respective regions).

  • ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

    11.5 months, full time.

    Chief Programme Coordination in PFP.

    WORKPLACE

    Home-based. (Physical presence is not required due to current COVID-19 travel restrictions.)

    Travel to the regional offices maybe required if situation allows.

    Education
    • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: communications, social sciences, marketing, public relations, business administration and management or another relevant technical field.
    • A first level university degree in a relevant field combined with 10 years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. 


    Experience
    • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible professional work experience in private sector engagement/fundraising with significant cross-over with UNICEF programmes is required.
    • Experience working or engaging with a variety of programme areas is required. Previous work experience in a UNICEF Country Office or field setting highly desirable.
    • Experience of developing compelling written and presentational materials for private sector donors.
    • Experience in strong engagement with UNICEF National Committees highly desirable.
    • Solid understanding of the spectrum of partnerships ranging from shared value to philanthropic, with experience highly desirable.
    • Strong planning/organising skills.
    • Has highest level writing skills, with strong preference for knowledge and experience in writing for UNICEF private sector audiences.
    • Has highest-level communication skills, including engaging and informative formal public speaking.
    • Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment, with high level skills in “working with people”.
    • Demonstrates and shares detailed technical knowledge and expertise through trainings.


    Language Requirements
    • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is an asset. Knowledge of other UN official languages will be desirable.

    Remarks:Please indicate your ability, availability and gross daily/monthly rate (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference above (including travel and daily subsistence allowance, if applicable).  Applications submitted without a daily/monthly rate will not be considered.
