Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) is a leading alternative investment specialist with expertise in hedge funds, private equity and global real estate. PAA is an independent unit of the Pictet Group, managing over USD 30 billion.


The Group has strong development ambitions for PAA over the coming years. Against this backdrop of planned growth, PAA is looking to hire a Legal Advisor to steer its development and shape the firm’s global range of products and its distribution strategy.


As a Legal Advisor, you will report to the Senior Legal Advisor and contribute to managing the full legal cycle of private assets, with a particular focus to Real Estate.

Your role


  • Reviewing and negotiating confidentiality agreements, non-reliance letters, disclosure letters and similar phase 1 deal documentation for different investment teams.
  • Preparing and reviewing non-binding offers with investment teams for a large number of transactions (including both competitive and off-market processes) across a variety of geographies.
  • Assisting with and/or managing legal and tax due diligence processes for new acquisitions. This will include drafting scopes of review for advisors, reviewing legal due diligence reports, assessing issues with investment teams, holding discussions with legal and tax advisors, as well as identifying key risks to be covered in SPAs.
  • Reviewing and discussing tax structures with both investment teams and tax advisors on a deal-by-deal basis.
  • Assisting with the review and negotiation of acquisition and disposal transaction documentation. Being present for negotiation calls with third parties and discussing key points with investment teams.
  • Contributing to the negotiation and implementation of management incentive packages.
  • Contributing to the review and negotiation of joint venture agreements with local partners in different European jurisdictions.
  • Reviewing and negotiating, together with asset managers and local partners, any contracts regarding asset management matters (e.g. lease agreements, construction agreements, consultant appointments, suppliers and service providers’ contracts, etc.).
  • Being the main person responsible for day-to-day legal matters raised with the fund on asset management matters during the entire life of the deal.
  • Assisting with the negotiation of financing agreements, including acquisition financing, corporate facilities, etc.

Your profile



  • You have excellent academic credentials and hold an attorney’s licence in the European Union or Switzerland.
  • You have worked for three to five years at a top-tier law firm or financial institution and gained experience in representing companies and private equity funds in (i) M&A transactions, both corporate and real estate transactions; (ii) minority investments; and (iii) joint ventures. This includes, among other things, (a) acquisitions and divestitures of private companies; (b) private equity transactions; (c) joint ventures, public acquisitions and divestitures; (d) going private transactions; (e) real estate acquisitions and divestments; (f) real estate asset and property management matters; and (g) construction agreements.
  • Familiarity with acquisition financings, structuring of private equity funds, basic corporate management of private equity funds (LPs, GPs, etc.) and/or distressed debt would be a plus.
  • You are eager to learn, solution oriented and take pride in helping the other members of your team.
  • You have proved that you are able to work in a multicultural environment and with teams in multiple locations.
  • You are proficient in English comfortable in discussing complex legal matters in such language. Understanding of French, German or a Nordic language would be a plus.
  • The position will be based in Geneva, must be resident in Switzerland or willing to relocate.
