Within the area of High Voltage Products, the Technology Center Switzerland is responsible – as part of a global development organization – for the development and optimization of products like Gas Insulated Switchgear, Generator Circuit Breakers, Surge Arresters, High Voltage Interrupter Chambers, Insulation Components as well as Control and Monitoring solutions. For our Business Unit High Voltage Products in Zurich-Oerlikon, we are looking for an R&D Project Manager to strengthen the R&D project management team within our Technology Center. In this role you will be responsible to lead a global and cross-functional team in the development of products, systems, services or technologies.Your responsibilities

• Project leadership: Lead complex and cross-functional project/s. Being responsible for all elements of the project/s. Motivate and lead internal and/or external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones.
• Project execution and control: Manage the project team allocated to the project, defining, with key stakeholders, the scope of work, cost/budget, resources required, time schedule and detailed work allocation. Monitor and control project cost and financials. Formalize acceptance of the project and bring all the project elements to a conclusion. Ensure project results are transferred to relevant line organization or department responsible. Capture lessons learned.
• Projects, processes, and tools: Ensure project follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with standard Hitachi Energy internal directives and procedures. Ensure projects follow external standards etc. that influence activities and targets.
• Manage uncertainties and risks: Identify, contain, and reduce risks. Ensure appropriate handling of change requests. Ensure transparency around unforeseen results/events and identify risks and makes sure that they are properly prioritized, managed and communicated.
• Collaboration: Use own technical domain knowledge to provide technical support to colleagues or other functional teams.
• Value management: Ensures understanding of customer value. Take into consideration requirements and demands coming from customers and from different Hitachi Energy functions (sales, supply, production, etc.). Act to ensure customer satisfaction and expectations.
• Stakeholder relations: Serve as the key contact for the project stakeholders. Effectively communicate appropriate information to stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding and support.
• Networking: Manage relationships with stakeholders, internal functions, other R&D teams in Technology Center and/or Corporate Research Centers and external relevant parties (e.g. customers, academia).

Your background

• Master’s degree in a technical field with >4 years of work experience best in product development.
• > 3 years project management experience best in a multisite and global team environment.
• Strong team and leadership skills.
• Pro-active, creative & problem-solving person with resistance to stressful situations.
• Work very well independently and have a strong self-motivation.
• Excellent English skills (German, French or any other European language is considered as an asset)
