SG CIB Zurich Branch (Corporate & Investment Banking) is part of Société Générale Paris. Global Transaction Banking (GTB) integrates all the expertise and services designed to facilitate the day-to-day transactional activities of major economic and financial players at home and abroad.

Société Générale provides Trade Services in 41 countries thanks to its large banking network in Europe, Africa and Asia.Société Générale Trade Services Desk based in Zürich provides solutions to Swiss large to middle capped-companies, or to Swiss branches of multinationals to secure and boost their international business. Services include classical Export or Import L/Cs, Guarantees and tailored-made structured solutions.

Main Mission:

The Trade Services Desk of Société Générale in Zürich is looking for a motivated Trade Middle Officer intern to support the day-to-day international transactions.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • The Trade Services Dept. Daily supports external clients in their export transactions worldwide demonstrating high level of customer service.
  • Middle Officer is responsible for Trade Finance Local customer servicing.
  • Responsible to execute administrative tasks in order to support the servicing of trade Transactions:
  • Open, maintain and close guarantee, letter of credit and documentary collection files.
  • Collect data requested to instruct the client “know your customer “files.
  • Perform compliance controls and prepare credit files.
  • Coordinate with experts the drafting of clients’ documentation.
  • Deliver consistent, high quality client service:
  • Provide Clients and Front Officer with relevant information and comprehensive answers to their enquiries.
  • Assist Sales in collecting data and quotes/pricing for clients.

Profile required

Studies & experience:

  • Apprenticeship within the Banking sector, HFBF or Bachelor/Master degree.
  • > 1-2 years of experience within Banking or in an International Business, in export/import business OR a previous internship.

Language skills:

  • Fluent English (written and spoken).
  • French or German would be an advantage.

Technical, operational & Soft skills:

  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of application, especially Excel, Word.
  • Good understanding of corporate credit management and Compliance risks.
  • Interests/ knowledge in Trade Finance instruments.
  • Personal abilities.
  • Proactive team player with good social skills.
  • Flexible, able to work under pressure and sense of responsibility.
  • Customer-oriented.
  • Able to work following strict instructions, in a precise manner and within a specific timeframe.
  • Be flexible and able to work under pressure with the same level of quality.
