Your profile:

  • You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, finance, business or a related engineering degree - a specialisation in energy or commodities is an advantage.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in oil market analysis with an oil trading company, a consultancy, a Bank or a government agency
  • Ability to work autonomously and engage in self-development and training.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills to process large amounts of information and data
  • Strong drafting, communication and presentational skills with an emphasis on synthesis and succinctness.
  • Market data: proficiency in either Bloomberg or Reuters Eikon terminal.
  • Languages: very strong fluency in English (oral and written) is a must, French is optional.
  • IT: strong knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Programing: knowledge of VBA, Python
  • Data visualisation: knowledge of Power BI
  • Data management: knowledge of SQL is an advantage

We are looking to hire an experienced Gasoline Desk Analyst to join our Market Research Team based in Geneva to work in close cooperation with our trading desk.

The Market Analysis team collects, interprets and transmits in real time relevant information and analysis to inform the trading desks, the research team, and the broader Trading & Shipping division of market and fundamental developments of interest.

What You Will Do

Reporting to our Market Analysis Director (T&S), your main missions will be to:

  • Manage data used in balance forecasts (supply/demand/trade): update data in the relevant files used in the production of the Gasoline balances forecasts by country / region. This involves making use of extensive data resources from consultants, international / government agencies, specialized data vendors and internally generated data.
  • Track refining activity: track country/regional refinery runs and turnaround activity and push data to the global refining analyst in Geneva.
  • If analyst coverage includes biofuel, track regulatory changes. Follow public policy with regards to biofuels with a view to measuring impact on demand and supply.
  • Maintain / develop data visualisation dashboards: Maintain existing data visualisation dashboards (Power BI) and develop new dashboards with the evolving needs of the trading desk and the broader research group.
  • Maintain / develop forecasting tools: use existing, and/or develop new Gasoline balance forecasting tools
  • Disseminate Desk Analysis: through dedicated Microsoft TEAMs forums and email alerts, disseminate external market analysis, desk view changes and market news putting these developments in a regional / global context for trading desks to act with agility and react in timely manner to changes in market conditions.
  • Relay analysis produced in other locations: ensure local awareness of the analysis produced by desk analysts in other regions.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests: respond to ad-hoc informational requests from the trading desks.
