About the role

Would you like to be a key driver of our Contracts Transformation journey? This role offers you a strategic opportunity to make a significant contribution to a highly visible and large group-wide programme implementing automation and technology into our e2e contract management and to ensure standard methodologies are adopted and applied.

You will straddle the line between IT, legal and the business to help bridge the gap and improve efficiency in the e2e contract handling, use data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver recommendation. You will have the opportunity to represent the Group Contracts department on the Group Contracts Transformation programme and interact with partners across the Group and the business units. You would work across all three Business Units and Group functions and contribute to develop the Swiss Re Institute (SRI) ’s agenda.

Initial tasks:

  • Review and analyze (re)insurance contracts and forms to assess contractual clauses and validate contractual outputs of model in the various business
  • Able to identify common capabilities and contractual parameters in (re)insurance review
  • Recognize and communicate business challenges in our contract handling and seek opportunities to improve those challenges
  • Use your knowledge of (re)insurance contracts and forms to verify the quality of the automated reviews performed by our contract review software
  • Participate in discussions with data scientists, software engineers, and external vendors in the analysis of innovative research in the area of computational contracts in re/insurance to test, learn and implement the right contract solution
  • Build knowledge on external products and technological advancements in the legal-tech market/contract solution space

About the team

Group Contracts is a newly built department in Group Underwriting SRI. Our team is a diverse, highly motivated and is responsible for the execution of the multi-year end to end (e2e) Contracts Transformation programme across the Swiss Re Group and to steer all group matters related to our (re)insurance contract wordings.

About You:

  • Degree in Law or equivalent education, with the skills for applying laws and rules to contracts, recognizing wording trends, and establishing contracts protocols
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience as an attorney or related (re)insurance experience or a financial institution
  • Knowledge of contract related legal and contractual principles and practices relating to insurance forms and reinsurance contract wordings, experience in direct insurance and/or special lines strongly preferred
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Enjoys revising contracts and paying attention to details
  • Understands the value of inclusivity and diversity in the workplace and appreciates a global multi-cultural team
  • Motivated about the use of modern technology, including tool & systems and willingness to support the development of such tools on a fast-paced transformation journey
  • Proficient in English, other languages a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and internet-based tools is a must.
