Position Summary:

The Director of Accounting & Finance, Europe will play a pivotal role in developing and managing the company’s financial activities for our European operations. The Director will have a significant role in developing the revenue framework in a dynamic market, as well as overseeing accounting systems, preparing technical reports compliant with IFRS and US GAAP, developing and maintaining robust internal controls, and ensuring effective cost accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Framework:
    • Responsible for the European revenue accounting close and reporting process, ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and the company’s policies for accurate and timely revenue reporting. Establish and optimize revenue recognition policies and practices in alignment with organizational objectives and in compliance with regulatory standards. Directly responsible for overseeing the full order to cash process for all European sales.
  • Accounting Close: Manage and perform the month-end and quarter-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations and related analysis.Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and present periodic financial statements, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to international accounting standards.
  • Technical Reporting: Develop comprehensive technical reports ensuring compliance with both IFRS and US GAAP standards.
  • Internal Controls: Design, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support audit activities.
  • Cost Accounting: Lead and oversee cost accounting activities to ensure accurate allocation and reporting of costs, supporting business decision-making and strategy development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior leadership, internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Stay updated with evolving financial regulations, ensuring that the organization remains compliant with all local and international accounting standards and regulations.
  • International Development: Ensure accounting, payroll and tax systems are established in new countries as part of a growing organization.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director of Tax to provide guidance and support for direct and indirect tax considerations in different countries.
  • Lead the finance workstream of the EU 3PL set up to enable appropriate processes, reporting and controls.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance and other accounting theory, principles and practices, including IFRS and US GAAP
  • Prior experience in an international/multi-country setting.
  • Experience in internal and external audit with a US public company
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in English, with proficiency in German and French, preferred.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, able to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines. Able to make things happen with minimum supervision and to work independently and effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Willingness and ability to work hands-on with administrative tasks, as well as leading large projects with strategic oversight.
