Presentation

The Sports Science Institute of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lausanne is looking for a doctoral student in sociology of sport on the theme of trust in anti-doping.

The research topic of this doctorate is understanding the elements on which trust is built and to increase trust in antidoping in improving antidoping organisations’ (ADOS) governance and policies. The thesis will be carried out in collaboration with WADA’s education department.

  • Start date: 01.01.2024
  • Duration of contract : 3 years
  • Rate of employment : 100%.
  • Place of work: Synathlon (Lausanne-Dorigny) and partner universities
  • Gross annual salary: Based on the salary scale set out by the Canton of Vaud for Doctoral Student (cf. FNS Doctoral Student scale : CHF 47’699 for the first year)

An additional allowance of CHF 761 per month will be paid.

The position is part of the Daisi Programme: 17 PhDs in Sport Ethics and Integrity.

It is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA): Doctoral Training Network: Sport Ethics and Integrity (DAiSI). Applications invited for individual research projects for Doctoral Candidates (see explanations in the document on this subject).

Please also note the following information will apply to all DAiSIDoctoral awards:

  • The doctoral candidate does not yet have a PhD at the start of his/her assignment.
  • The doctoral candidate has not resided or carried out his/her main activity (e.g. work, studies) in the country of recruitment for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the start of his/her assignment.
  • All applicants must have a minimum 6.5 IELTS language competency or equivalent, or a Bachelor degree in the English language.

If you intend to apply for more than 1 of the DAiSIPhDs, then you may indicate 1-3 PhDs that you are interested in, in ranked order, in your motivation letter by using the DC numbers mentioned underneath.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in sociology, social sciences, sports sciences, gender studies or another relevant social science discipline
  • Strong interest in scientific research in the topic of integrity in sport, particularly in connection with gender-based violence
  • High motivation to complete a doctoral dissertation as part of this Daisi Programme
  • Excellent qualitative methods skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
