The Ingenuity Lab (PI: Prof. Inge K. Herrmann, Empa/ETH and University Hospital Balgrist/UZH) focuses on research excellence and innovation in the field of medical technology. We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible, developing novel materials and devices for medicine of the future. Our team of visionary scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals collaborates in a vibrant academic setting at Empa, ETH, University of Zurich and Balgrist University Hospital to create transformative solutions for complex medical challenges.

Your tasks

We are seeking an Electrical and Robotics Engineer with a passion for innovation and a drive to shape the future of medical technology. In this role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research projects, designing and implementing advanced electrical and robotic systems for novel medical devices. Your work will not only address current medical needs but also pave the way for future technological advancements.

  • Design, develop, and optimize electrical and robotic systems for pioneering medical devices.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of researchers, clinicians, and engineers to translate innovative concepts into practical engineering solutions.
  • Document and disseminate research findings through publications, presentations, and academic forums.
  • Mentor and guide students and junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, ensuring that our lab remains a leader in medical innovation.
Your profile

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and collaborative research.
  • Expertise in circuit design, 3-d printing, additive manufacturing, microfabrication is highly beneficial.
  • For applicants with a Ph.D.: strong publication record in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
  • Unwavering commitment to innovation, excellence, and the advancement of medical technology.
