As a Project Lead engineer at ABB, a global leader in technology, electrification, automation, and digitalization, you will be part of a dynamic international project team, playing a crucial role in providing innovative technical solutions for our clients in the mining, aluminum, and cement industries.

In this role, you will report to the Power Systems Engineering Manager. Your responsibilities will involve daily engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders, fostering seamless collaboration within our organization, external partners, and clients, understanding their unique needs and to provide tailored technical solutions, integrating and harmonizing our electrification, automation, and digital portfolio across all facets of the projects.

Your responsibilities

  • Act as overall technical lead in international projects, covering electrification, control, and instrumentation of industrial plants, during the full project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions.
  • Ensure the integration of all engineering disciplines, with efficient execution in accordance with the contract specifications, quality and technical standards, safety requirements and product compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding engineered High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) power distribution equipment and electrical studies, such as Short Circuit, Load Flow, Harmonics, selectivity study, protection setting, etc. Develop comprehensive technical specifications for a wide range of High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) equipment.
  • Play an active role in design reviews, where your expertise will be crucial in fostering the clarification of technically intricate points.
  • Monitor the project deliverables to ensure that cost and time trend deviations from the baselines are quickly identified and remedied.
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing claims and change requests, encompassing new scopes of work, cost, and time implications, and providing comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with Technical Sales to review customer design concepts, providing optimized solutions aligned with project requirements and ABB portfolio.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of power systems, working as team lead, senior project engineer or project lead engineer.
  • Sound knowledge in energy distribution concepts, power quality, electrical network studies, sizing and specifying of primary equipment, secondary control, and protection.
  • A high level of self-motivation and curiosity, and a desire to learn about new technologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Any other language knowledge is an advantage.
