Description



As our European International Trade Compliance Manager , you will be reporting to the Vice President of Finance with a strong dotted line to the Measurement Solutions (MSOL) Director Global Trade Compliance.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring our trade compliance programs under applicable U.S., EU, UN, and foreign laws and regulations.

You’ll proactively collaborate closely with the business on import/export requirements and serve as an SME regarding trade policies and procedures, training internal partners as needed. In addition, you will provide support for other general compliance initiatives.


IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and adherence to Emerson’s trade compliance policies and legal requirements under applicable U.S., EU, UN and foreign laws and regulations whilst proactively mitigating risk across the European Measurement Solution (MSOL) business.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to personnel performing trade-related tasks and activities at all European MSOL sites and performing internal import & export compliance assessments and audits, maintaining relevant reporting and KPI’s and providing corrective action, follow-up, and closure.
  • Be a proactive and influential member of the MSOL global trade compliance team, acting as the primary subject matter expert (SME) covering all relevant compliance activities for orders and shipments into, out of, and within Europe.
  • Responsible for the review, approval, and management of any import & export transactions that are advanced by ITC users for shipments into and out of Europe (EU Community and non-EU Community member countries) as well as any other trade compliance matters. Serve as primary contact point for inquiries from EU Customs authorities and/or MSOL’s European partners/suppliers.
  • Provide expert guidance and tactical support in all relevant areas in the import & export order and shipment processes such as import & export shipment documentation review, Harmonized Schedule (HS) Code and dual-use classification determination, customs valuation, preferential tariff treatment programs (e.g., FTA’s), Country of Origin determinations, EU Community and non-EU Community member countries import duty rates, trouble-shooting issues, etc.
  • Oversee activities such as embargo/sanction compliance, export control screening activities, and deemed exports.





FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international Trade, Logistics, Business or related field
  • Ability to travel domestic and international as needed or required.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment; compare alternate actions and makes informed decisions.
  • 10+ years direct experience in International Trade Compliance or a similar combination of Regulatory Compliance fields.
  • 5+ years’ experience supervising and leading people, projects, and programs.
  • Knowledge of product classification, specifically determining the HS code (EU Harmonized Tariff System “TARIC”), and determination of dual use product classification.
  • Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to conduct and lead meetings to accomplish task.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively with inside/outside Legal counsel and with government regulators.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work both independently and with a team. Initiative to follow tasks to completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
