Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: querying and analyzing datasets (e.g, SQL, MapReduce, Hadoop), malware analysis using YARA or similar tools, statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SAS), and/or data-focused programming (e.g., Python, C, C++).


Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or another technical field.
  • Experience with data collection/transformation workflows and database design.
  • Knowledge of, or interest in, security, malware, network engineering, or identity-related topics.
  • Ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you’re a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The Trust and Safety (T&S) Account Security team works to keep accounts secure from unauthorized access and helps to ensure Google products interact with legitimate users that have a good intent.

You will work with engineering teams and product teams, striving to make sure that products and features provide a good and safe experience for our users.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex data analyses to identify harmful entities, design and implement key performance metrics, examine trends, and identify system vulnerabilities.
  • Analyze potentially malicious applications to understand their behavior and impact on users.
  • Improve tools or systems by influencing key stakeholders with data and analyses.
  • Enhance operational workflows via process improvements and automation.
