Role

Assistant Global Controller/ Regional APAC Controller will take the responsibility for the Asia (especially Korea) Market.

The role holder is responsible for supporting the country offices in the sub-region with financial compliance monitoring and control, technical development and support, and capacity building.

The role holder has oversight in her/his senior position for the accounting, budgeting, and reporting functions of each region, ensuring that all processes and procedures are compliant with local regulatory requirements. He/she regularly and competently provides business insights and recommendations to enhance the profitability and operations of the business to the CFO in Switzerland. Budgets, monthly results, and forecasts are coordinated (timely, efficiently, accurately) and prepared ensuring that the region’s financial status is properly analyzed and communicated to individual budget holders, as well as regional and global stakeholders. This includes providing recommendations on improving business performance to appropriate management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial review and oversight for Korean Market
  • Monthly Management Accounts: Reports actual results in a timely, accurate manner, identifying and communicating key risks and trends as well as recommendations. This requires timely and accurate coordination of the APAC region’s finance team for quality business analysis is available to key decision makers. This includes flash reporting, APAC consolidation, commentary and additional analyses as appropriate.
  • Budgets and Forecasts: Consolidates the budget and forecast for the APAC region, coordinating input with Korea, Singapore and Global Services, while retaining direct responsible for input from all other countries and operational functions.
  • Business Management: Ensures regional and local management receive business reports on a timely basis, with key insights and recommendations clearly highlighted. Provides ad hoc analyses as appropriate.
  • Processes, procedures, controls: Improves the financial processes and procedures of APAC region, assists in improving the processes and procedures in countries beyond their direct control and supports initiatives designed to achieve a similar result globally.
  • Responsible for APAC Tax and Risk, helping to coordinate work on any tax issue and providing other assistance as appropriate according to local tax law.
  • Provides ad hoc analyses and insights for CFO HQ Switzerland, and other management. Consistently manages expectations with these stakeholders regarding the frequently and richness of such support to ensure the region’s limited resources aren’t overwhelmed.
  • Coordinates audits regionally, as well as prepares and manages audit activities in the countries they are directly responsible for according to local GAAP.
  • Assists in and leads global projects as applicable.
  • Digital Certification: Ensures all regional finance employees regularly undertake activities designed to secure, then further their own digital certification. This includes ensuring that they are also certified in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • BA degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA qualified by a recognized industry body.
  • No less than six years of professional financial experience in an appropriate industry
  • At least two years experience managing one or more direct reports.
  • Knowledge of financial and legislative requirements in major markets across Asia Pacific.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial matters in plain English is essential.
  • Native speaking/writing proficiency in Korean required.
  • Experience living and working in Asian region is required and experience working cross-culturally.
