You work closely with all the teams that form the Swisscom data lake, using the latest and greatest big data technologies and their related ecosystems – both on premises and in the cloud.

  • Design and implement our storage and computing platform built around Ceph storage, Hadoop and Kubernetes
  • Build and maintain software and self-service APIs, enabling users to manage their resources
  • Operate and improve the reliability and availability of our platform
  • Design and implement our cloud transformation via AWS

Storage & Compute Working as part of our agile team, you implement new use cases using open-source technologies, design new architecture patterns, improve our DevOps environment and explore new technologies. You also collaborate closely with other core big data component teams to develop and support end-to-end services to delight our users who heavily rely on performance, stability and resiliency. You are joining a team of passionate engineers, who work in an autonomous and self-organised way. You are motivated by constant challenges and firmly believe in our vision of continuing to take the platform to the next level.

The project The data lake platform we build integrates Swisscom products and opens the door to new, cutting-edge and data-driven products. We enable hundreds of internal engineers and analysts to gain new insights and create new possibilities for our customers. We design, implement and operate our storage and computing platform built around Ceph storage, Hadoop and Kubernetes on premises and on AWS. We build a system that automates the management of our platforms and APIs, enabling self-service for the whole company. We value high-quality infrastructure, code development, pair-programming, peer reviews, CI/CD pipelines, automations and innovation, which enable us to continuously challenge the status quo.

Your profile

  • Excellent Linux knowledge: file systems, volume management, process management, performance tuning and networking stacks
  • Good understanding of computer networking and security
  • Development experience in Java, Go or Python, and familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible
  • Experience with Ceph or other distributed storage system as well as experience with cloud platforms
  • Experience with Kubernetes is a plus
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented, reliable, accountable and pragmatic
  • Very good English, French or German is a plus
  • Independent and self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Enthusiasm for DevOps and agile methodologies
