As Environmental Sustainability Lead you will be responsible for defining and driving the implementation of the overall climate protection and environmental strategy for Medela. In addition, you will develop, oversee and the execute all climate and environmental initiatives building awareness and engagement in the company for sustainability topics

Your Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a Climate and Environmental Sustainability strategy and implementation plan, including introduction of environmental KPIs
  • Drive environmental initiatives in line with defined strategy across the organization
  • Deliver exceptional performance across key metrics and KPI measures, drive a continuous improvement culture
  • Drive Medela towards carbon neutrality in alignment with global initiatives like Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi)
  • Develop and apply product life cycle assessments, circularity, packaging and material compliance concepts to support R&D, operations and marketing in improving the environmental impact of Medela products
  • Develop process for annual sustainability reporting in compliance with international standards, guidelines and frameworks (including GRI, UNGC, SDGs etc.) with external consulting support, and Communication Department
  • Evaluate, create and implement environmental policies
  • Drive Medela towards implementing an environmental management system (eg ISO 14001)
Your Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related fields
  • 5 years+ experience in a similar role, ideally in the healthcare sector
  • Strong knowledge about sustainability needs and trends in the healthcare sector, ideally in medical devices
  • Experience with carbon footprint and Life Cycle assessments and ISO 14001
  • Understanding of current and future local authority/government policy; practical experience in managing sustainability / environmental legislations (i.e. REACH, ROHS, etc.)
  • Reputation for being a collaborative thought partner and change leader
  • Experienced in working in an international organization with excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Good strategic planning skills, with a pragmatic approach
  • Able to undertake development of business cases, project planning and project management, including working to budget
  • Fluent English, German is a plus
  • Willingness to travel required
