Position Title: Senior Director, Manufacturing, Sciences and Technology (MSAT)

How will you make an impact?

The MSAT Sr Director provides scientific leadership to ensure compliance, resilience & competitiveness of Thermofisher commercialized Grow, Value Optimization and Late Lifecycle portfolio.

In this role, you will be expected to be Subject Matter Extert (SME) in the Large and Small Molecule Drug Product field and lead a team of Molecular Biologists, Chemical & Process Engineers and Scientists. You will be leading Strategic, Tactical and Operational technical projects for the commercialized product portfolio, working closely with operations, QA, QC, and various supply chain, and development functions. You will leverage strong networking and influencing skills to ensure good collaboration between several function such as Sales, Business, Make, Quality, Planning, Regulatory, Procurement etc.

You will have a strong scientific background and a passion for driving success commercialization of current and future portfolio. You will manage & prioritize resource to ensure successful New Product Introduction and deliver a wide range of Life Cycle Management technical projects that includes, but not limited to product/portfolio supply chain resilience program e.g., source change & new site establishment, process robustness optimization, and application of innovation for process intensification and competitiveness, regulatory compliance and technical advocacy with Health Authority.

The Sr director will demonstrate strong people leadership and talent development mindset for the continuous uplift in team technical capability and project delivery excellence.

What will you do?

Lead the operational excellence strategy in line with the overall organizational goals and objectives and in collaboration with Site Leadership.

  • Leading a team of Process Engineers and Scientists. The team provides support for projects at all stages of the product life cycle (from product introduction to post launch value optimization) delivering the following aspects:

1. Budget responsibility for team and related activities.

2. Define and own lab experiments.

3. post PPQ, full ownership of all continuous process validation activities.

4. All secondary process transfers in light of supply chain resiliency.

  • Lead and oversee large-scale operational excellence projects from initiation to completion. Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and budget. Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Making the right prioritization of the projects to support the supply chain and the value optimization targets.
  • Drive change management initiatives by engaging and influencing key stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Develop and implement communication plans to ensure successful adoption of operational excellence initiatives.

How will you get here?

  • Master in engineering, science, or a related field or PhD.
  • A minimum of 15 years of supply chain experiences that demonstrated ability to manage drive operational performance improvements. A minimum of 5 years of people management experience.

  • Experience and profound knowledge in pharmaceutical processes for both conventional as well as enabling dosage forms, including the characterization of DP, understanding of the stability profile for DP as well as linking DP characteristics with bio-pharmaceutical performance.
  • Good understanding of the drug substance and drug product development process from early through late development and an appreciation of how Pharmaceutical & Drug Product Development contributes to R&D.
  • Strong Experience and track record in technical transfer activities in commercial and clinical space to favor agility and fast time to market into a high VUCA environment (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) such as the one of a top tier CDMO business like Thermofisher scientific.
  • A demonstrated ability to translate creative and innovative approaches into the solution of problems and the timely advancement of projects is required.
  • Can readily conduct diverse scientific projects in an organized and productive manner.
  • Shows a high sense of responsibility and personal accountability.
  • Connection to academic and industry network in this field. Strong networking skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with both current and new technologies used in chemical synthesis as well as biologics and new modalities.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and talent development, including technical and non-technical coaching and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and the ability to help define a vision for the future.
  • A consistent track record of analyzing and interpreting complex situations to provide clear direction to others.
  • Good communicator with experience of effective collaborations and interactions, building strong relationships with partners and customers.
