Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Biotechnology (18 months)

Work Location: Satigny (Geneva), Switzerland

This position requires technical expertise in the field of biotechnology and, particularly, in microbiology, biochemistry/molecular biology and analytical techniques for small molecules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently carry out research projects, applying innovative biochemistry, molecular biology, and synthetic biology techniques for the discovery of new enzymatic activities and biosynthetic pathways.
  • Perform laboratory experiments in biochemistry, molecular biology and biocatalysis using conventional and high-throughput tools.
  • Apply bioinformatic tools and methods to support projects.
  • Follow scientific and patent literature and apply learnings to the specific area of research.
  • Perform small molecule analyses, in particular using GC-MS.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues in an interdisciplinary research team.
  • Record all data in Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) with interpretation of results.
  • Present research results in departmental seminars as well as in written reports.
  • Adhere to the company’s safety standards.

  • PhD in (bio)chemistry, biotechnology, or related field with practical experience in the production of small molecules, for example terpenes.
  • Hands-on experience of basic organic chemistry or biocatalysis, analytical techniques for small molecules desired.
  • Passion for science and innovation.
  • Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Curious, open-minded with excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, proficiency in French is a plus.
