Our products mainly serve commercial applications in micromachining markets.We seek an energetic Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work in a fast paced, international development environment. The candidate should have strong technical skills in order to drive product development to volume production.Job Responsibilities
  • Component and system level design, analysis, and validation.
  • Conceptualize layout design, package prototyping, fixture and tooling design.
  • Drive mechanical design of complex laser systems.
  • DFQ – design for quality.
  • DFM – design for manufacturability.
  • DVT – design verification testing.
  • Process development for lean and zero-defect manufacturing.
  • Take the design through the qualification phase and transfer new products and components to our production facility in Thailand.
  • Development of advanced illustrative work instructions for multilingual manufacturing sites.
  • Work within cross-functional international teams and collaborate with development partners and related outside services.

  • Strong mechanical design skills with a good understanding of general mechanical design practices, in particular design for quality and manufacturability.

  • Creative problem solving skills and solid understanding of project management.
  • Drive to design and build hardware in rapid fashion while rigorously applying mechanical engineering best practices.
Minimum Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience in an industrial development environment.
  • Mastery of CAD tools for 3D design, modelling and 2D drawing creation (SolidWorks preferred).
  • PDM-PLM experience (SW PDM-Agile preferred)
  • Application of mechanical design standards such as ISO and ANSI, applying GD&T best practices to mechanical drawing specifications
  • International travel (up to 10-15%) required to evaluate vendors and co-operate with other design and manufacturing teams.
  • Excellent English verbal/written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of various production methods and materials selection.
  • High level of integrity, work ethic, responsiveness and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must be eligible to work in Switzerland on a full-time basis.
Additional Desired Experience
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Manufacturing experience/exposure.
  • Thermal and structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS preferred), including design and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience in Test & Reliability engineering (HALT/HASS).
  • Perform environmental stability tests (temperature cycles, shock, vibration) on a component, module and system level.
  • Familiarity with fibre optics and/or opto-mechanical design for commercial laser products.
