The Institute of Sport Sciences of the University of Lausanne (ISSUL) is a centre of excellence in the fields of training and research in sports sciences. It has more than 80 researchers and 600 Bachelor, Master and PhD students working on multiple themes in the field of sport.

Starting date: September 1, 2023 (or to be agreed)

Contract duration: 1 year, renewable 2 x 2 years, maximum 5 years

Activity rate: 100%

Place of work: Dorigny (Synathlon) and Department of Cardiology / Sports Medicine (CHUV / Bugnon)

Gross annual salary: CHF 65’910.-, increasing each year according to the scale

Your responsibilities

55% of the time is spent on research that will form the basis of the required doctoral thesis. Specifically, the experiments will aim to investigate cardiovascular and musculoskeletal adaptations to acute or chronic exercise in healthy and clinical populations, and will include various models with a focus on studies in human subjects. The rest of the time is devoted to teaching and supervising doctoral / masters students under the responsibility of the teacher in charge.

Your qualifications

We aim to hire someone with the following profile:

  • Masters degree in Sports Medicine/Sport Science or equivalent title
  • Interest in pursuing research activities and developing a thesis in the field of sports medicine/sports science, in line with the research interests of Professors Baggish (cardiovascular physiology and sports cardiology) and Gremeaux (biomechanics, fatigue and musculoskeletal medicine).
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Interest in teaching in many fields related to sports medicine/sports science
  • Organizational skills, ability to work autonomously and independently, and within a research team

Host laboratory

The host laboratory is fully equipped for the evaluation of cardiovascular function in humans and shares the expertise and equipment of the departments of cardiology and sports medicine (imaging platforms, human performance laboratory, biochemistry platforms), where the successful candidate will be mainly based.
