Job Description

The ideal candidate for the Head of Marketing position embodies the maverick mindset and is driven to build brands that engage consumers beyond the products we sell. Bringing a growth mindset, this position will lead the development of our brand(s) and their nameplates to drive value to our business. Partnering with groups such as Customer Experience, Digital Business Teams, Product, Network & Distribution and Design, this position will collaborate with leaders across GM to redefine the way consumers see our brands and products. This position requires someone who is an innovator beyond any category. A progressive track record with a proven ability to lead change, collaborate across all functions, and effectively prioritize in an ambiguous / fast-paced environment is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of our brand(s) and their nameplates to drive value to our business including the following:
    • A strategy for the brand(s), ensuring it’s implemented through key marketing initiatives
    • Work closely with Customer Insights and the agencies to to define target market definition, positioning, and key messages
    • Establish co-branding / partnerships
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and execute key launch initiatives.
  • Develop a compelling consumer messaging strategy (CRM, hand-raiser engagement, etc.) which utilizes appropriate media tactics
  • Lead in development and management of product launches leveraging consumer insights and competitive opportunities to guide development of market strategy/tactics
  • Develop annual the marketing plan and budget recommendation
  • Work closely with the Product Team to ensure appropriate vehicle content (packages, technology, features, interior, etc.) based on the target consumer and positioning and for each product:
    • Develop monthly go-to-market plan recommendation as part of SMS process including sales forecast, production recommendation, and incentive requirements
    • Assume leadership role in developing content for dealer product training
    • Provide carline direction on creative work in terms of scope, key messages, and customer target.
    • Collaborate with Sales Operations Team and Network Manager in communications and soliciting feedback to ensure plans can be effectively executed at retail
    • Collaborate with the Product Manager to identify customer needs, develop initial model/content strategy, and identify product wins for communications
    • Ensure accuracy and effective messaging in all consumer communications, dealer communications, press releases, dealer order guides
  • Serve as SME of assigned products/segments to the organization. Provide guidance to develop a portfolio approach for marketing management.
  • Develop customer targets, product content, pricing, media planning and incentives recommendations to maximize assigned programs’ VP and share in the assigned market.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • High level of diverse marketing experiences required

  • Highly effective presentation skills in a variety of formal presentation settings: one-on-one, small and large groups with peers and bosses, inside and outside of the organization
  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effect
