Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IP Counsel with a focus on Licensing & Disputes to join our Legal team. As the IP Counsel, you will play a crucial role in managing and protecting our intellectual property assets, as well as providing legal counsel on a wide range of matters related to IP licensing, disputes, and information technology. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to support Aptiv’s strategic objectives.

Your Role

  • Software license agreement negotiations and reviews, including advising supply chain management team on risks and developing processes.
  • Draft and negotiate Commercial Intellectual Property contracts and documents with suppliers and customers pertaining to software.
  • Support Information Security, Cybersecurity and Privacy related contracts, processes, policies, investigations and reviews.
  • Advise and consult on matters related to Free and Open Source Software, and assist business with related compliance issues.
  • Guide engineers and supply-chain teams on legal implications related to software, machine learning and data products.

Your Background

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an IP Lawyer with a focus on licensing and IP litigation.
  • Technical background in software, computer science, electrical engineering, or physics.
  • Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
  • Familiarity with IP laws and regulations, including patent, trademark, and copyright.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and provide sound legal advice to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with M&A activities and due diligence is a plus
