Job Description

Our Global Head of Data Strategy & Governance operates as a thought leader and innovator, with the ability to promote strategic and operational use of data and advanced analytics in decision-making. Implements data processes, data management and data governance harmonization according to Global specifications and local business needs.

The overall responsibilities of our Global Head Data Strategy & Governance are:
  • Responsible for the CPO data management strategy, portfolio & roadmap and accountable for its implementation in accordance with Global Data Strategy. Support of local Pharma Commercial Strategy including revenue and margin objectives
  • Coordinate data management requirements, the data governance framework (incl. standards & guidelines) and local high-level data architecture to ensure the successful implementation of the data management strategy
  • Supervises portfolio and implements local roadmap for rollout based on Global frameworks
  • Drive local process harmonization
  • Partner with, and influence, the Pharma data governance: Form, People and Processes to drive successful end to end country Pharma business outcomes
  • Stay abreast of local market evolutions and dynamics regarding Novartis Pharma position in industry and therapeutic areas
  • Details and communicates the data management strategy
  • Partner with Global Head of data strategy & governance on driving local change management strategy for the implementation of enterprise data solutions within the country
  • Establish clear goals and measurable objectives for data strategy that serve your larger business strategy
  • Establish a local center of excellence & service of master data management and data governance, within local data stewardship
  • Responsible for proposing technology solutions and getting consensus from functional leaders and Global Data Governance
  • Collaborate with existing analytics teams, as well as key stakeholders, to identify existing, or new, areas that can benefit significantly from data specifically and advanced analytics in general
  • Enhance functional expertise across country BU data teams
  • Provide technical leadership to team members and vendor resources (onsite and offshore).
  • Develop BU communication approach to support regions and countries in planning for and implementation of data initiatives locally
  • Implement formal data governance approach in full alignment to Global Governance coordinate with local Onco / CTS and increase the maturity of the data capability and environment
  • Drive initiatives to clean local BU data, implement data quality dashboards and supervise quality from data capture through to analytics, guide BU country stakeholders on quality maintenance
  • Define, implement and monitor metrics and KPIs to Enterprise Data Strategy maturity and ensure ongoing strategic alignment with short and long-term business objectives.
  • Drive local data purchases according to data strategy in conjunction with Legal, Procurement and countries
  • Define & influence data integration across platforms & products according to business needs
  • Harmonize local business process and implement global process specifications and changes to support a supportive, efficient, and cost-effective commercial strategy and business operations environment
  • Maintain country data catalogue, knowledge graphs & taxonomies
Your responsibilities:

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Implement overall data strategy & governance for BU locally
  • Implement and develop, at a local need basis, business-focused pragmatic strategies for data acquisition, data integration, data quality and data lifecycle management, as well as for data stewardship to be performed in multiple countries for BU data and will achieve growth and productivity through process automation
  • Define local data strategy by business process clusters (e.g. sales ops, digital campaign) and for key brands/franchises for the BU in close alignment with Global specifications
  • Collaborate and contribute to enterprise data governance bodies to cultivate data enterprise interoperability.
  • Collaborate with Pharma TT / CTS functions to ensure that technology enables advanced analytics capabilities, and that data is reliable and accurate
  • Shape the organizational mindset to envision the possibilities for advanced analytics, generate interest and demand for advanced analytics solutions, and cultivate business support and participation in new solutions
  • Develop a culture and environment where data strategy, architecture, and governance managers thrive, oversee the development of competency models, career paths, and onboarding and training programs for the individuals in the group

Minimum Requirements

Minimum requirements
  • Undergrad. degree in business, engineering, computer science or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years (7 years preferred) of pharmaceutical commercial experience – operational, data-related or combination of both
  • Experience with designing data governance, evaluating & analyzing pharmaceutical commercial data e.g., IQVIA
  • Experience in computer programming and/or with ETL enablers such as SQL, SAS, Alteryx
