Main Purpose:

We require an accomplished Business Analyst with experience of commodities, FX and IRS derivatives front-to-back business processes, with particular understanding of Murex MX.3 Back Office and Accounting experience. The candidate will work on a company-wide initiative to implement Murex MX.3 as the strategic derivatives platform for Trafigura in multiple delivery phases. This will entail detailed requirements gathering across a broad user group, designing streamlined solutions in line with Trafigura’s IT strategy and then supporting the project through to delivery.
Within this role, the candidate will provide requirements capture and distilled business vision for the Murex Derivatives platform within the trading division, as well as managing expectations of the key business stakeholders and working closely with the project manager for delivery of these projects.

  • Proven ability to act as a bridge between the business and highly technical developers located in remote offices, translating business concepts into requirements that are implementable
  • Expected to have 7+ years’ experience of requirements analysis in a commercial environment
  • Expected to be a domain expert in at least one of the following areas:
    • Derivatives margining and settlements process
    • Trade capture and related product structure knowledge
    • Derivatives regulatory reporting
    • Accounting for derivatives
  • Strong technical understanding of Commodities, FX and Interest rate products
  • Excellent grasp of derivative back office processes and accounting fundamentals, and how these are applied within a Murex MX.3 environment;
  • Able to leverage product knowledge to co‐ordinate responses and inputs across BA, development, QA, Infrastructure and business users.
  • Excellence in communication (written and verbal) to drive interactions with programme manager, senior sponsors within business & technology and with team members
  • Has credibility and can communicate clearly with both non‐technical and technical individuals
  • Able to provide concise information to internal stakeholders and external vendors to clarify delivery requirements.
  • Able to channel subject matter knowledge to support project implementation with respect to design, build, testing and deployment phases of the programme.
  • Track record in delivering to strict time deadlines in challenging environments.
  • Experience of a variety of software development methodologies (e.g. continuous integration, iterative development)
  • Strong academic background – excellent degree from a top tier university is required in a subject that demonstrates the need for logical thinking, precise understanding and clear articulation

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility is the determination & clear articulation of business requirements for the trading area, with specific focus on Derivatives Back Office and Accounting for Murex
  • Stakeholder management to ensure the solution meets business requirements and there are no business surprises for go-live
  • Deliver verbal responses and written documentation to support work stream and programme office activity
  • Act as a key point of contact to the Business Analysis, Functional Architecture, Solution Architecture and Global Product Manager groups throughout the implementation.
  • Interface with business stakeholders to determine key design and process decisions which then contribute to the overall delivery plan.
  • Deliver assigned tasks complete and on time as designated by the Programme Office to ensure smooth progress of the implementation.
  • Manage key blocks of deliverables as designated by the programme office.
  • Contribute and take ownership for various project related tasks / planning activities as the programme evolves
  • Acting as the requirements authority (the source of truth) when clarification of the business process is required, and identifying process improvement opportunities
  • Close engagement with the functional architecture and solution architecture teams to agree on a logical design of the solution, including screen design & usability to optimise business processes
  • Quality assurance of any technical requirements produced by off-shore teams against business requirements produced through business engagements
  • Key point of functional escalation for technical and QA teams during requirement development & testing
