In this role you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the strategic marketing and market development strategy for large-volume injection devices to serve immuno-oncology, immunology, and other therapeutics areas. These responsibilities will be performed on a global level in close collaboration with the entire commercial and technical organization, as well as other functions (e.g., production, supply chain, finance, corporate strategy etc.). This role is of high strategic importance and spans the following responsibilities:

Tasks
  • Strategy Development: Establish and define key strategic priorities; build, shape, and develop strategic marketing and market development strategy based on a clear understanding of industry trends, market white spots, and salient constraints of current technologies. Take lead in driving the strategy process in close collaboration with the commercial organization and relevant stakeholders. From this, identify key projects and initiatives to be implemented.
  • Project / Initiative Implementation: Taking responsibility for the growth of SHL’s business within the described segment, lead and execute a breadth of projects and initiatives. Secure proper implementation of projects / initiatives, including but not limited to setting up a mechanism to motivate and engage the organisation around these. Track progress, provide transparency, and ensure impact creation of projects as per the defined goals. Examples: Identify needs that are poorly met with current options, design segmentation and target customers list, develop value propositions and key messages, propose marketing communication plan to create awareness and interest in SHL’s solutions, train account managers, help build sales tools and materials etc.
  • Operational Execution: Working together with marketing, account management, corporate communications, technology development etc., help to secure the day-to-day success of the large volume autoinjector and oncology applications space. For example, support account managers with customer meetings, host webinars, attend conferences etc.
  • Other: As this is a newly established function, please expect that additional activities may be needed in order to secure growth in the segment of responsibility.

This position reports to the Global Head of Commercial Excellence, who in turn reports directly into the Chief Commercial Officer. The position is based in our headquarters in Zug, Switzerland. A mix of home-office and presence in our headquarters is possible. Approximately 20 – 30% global travel is expected.

Requirements

We are looking for an individual that is excited about shaping this newly established role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Ideally, you meet the following qualifications and bring with you a minimum of seven years of work experience:
  • Education: Master of Science in a business (e.g., Strategy, Marketing, Sales) or science / technical field (e.g., medicine, biotechnology, engineering etc.) or other related field with top grades from a leading university.
  • Functional Expertise: Experience in the fields of strategic marketing and market development. Focus on building new businesses and establishing new markets is considered a plus.
  • Industry Expertise: Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience with a focus on immuno-oncology and / or immunology is a must-have to succeed in this role. Experience with drug delivery devices, specifically autoinjectors, is considered a plus.
  • Consulting Toolkit: Strong consulting toolkit, either from working in a strategy consultancy (preferred) or non-consulting environment (e.g., corporate strategy / business development department etc.) where similar skills were acquired and demonstrated.
  • Strategy Design & Implementation: Previous demonstrated impact in setting up and driving strategy processes and executing projects in a global environment, with a focus on collaboration and co-creation across functions and regions.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to drive forward the commercial agenda based on in-depth experience in engaging with and managing stakeholder groups from diverse cultural backgrounds, internal and external audiences, and varying levels of seniority. Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and influence others based on profound indirect leadership skills.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with proven ability to initiate, scope, setup, drive and manage highly complex, global, strategic, and cross-functional projects in international matrix organisations. Ability to deal with and manage uncertainty.
  • Analysis & Problem Solving: Strong analytical, problem-solving and ideation skills. Able to turn complex problems into impactful solutions and communicate these in simple and easy to understand messages.
  • Consulting or Start-Up Toolkit: You have one of the following: (A) Strong consulting toolkit, either from working in a strategy consultancy (preferred) or non-consulting environment (e.g., corporate strategy / business development department etc.) where similar skills were acquired and demonstrated. (B) Strong start-up and venture building toolkit, either from working in a start-up, a start-up incubator, as an intrapreneur or an entrepreneur.
  • Visionary & Unconventional Thinking: Not afraid to challenge conventional thinking through a combination of deep commercial expertise, a clear vision, and true passion for the topic. Acting as a sparring partner and advisor, bringing in new ideas from the outside.
  • Presentation & Communication Skills: Creative personality, high attention to details and high focus on quality. Understands design, and visual engagement techniques. Able to come up with new ideas to communicate and present. Adept with new digital channels and able to engage broad audiences of stakeholders.
  • Language: Fluent in written and spoken English. Other language skills are considered an advantage.
