Founded in 2008, La Côte International School is a co-educational, English language based, day school that welcomes nearly 420 students between 2 and 18 years old. Secondary Counsellor

50% 2year contract –August 2022

Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential counselling sessions for secondary students.
  • Develop personalised counselling support plans to help student manage social, emotional, behavioural or mental health related difficulties.
  • Liaison with school based Safe Guarding Officer on issues related to student safety.
  • Coordinate with external experts to increase student success at school.
  • Maintain confidential counselling records and reports.
  • Provide evidenced based counselling support (e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness etc).
  • Actively assess student risk, develop student support plans, and personalised student reintegration plans.
  • Make referrals to external experts should students needs extend outside counsellors training (e.g. primary doctors, counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrist etc).
  • Coordinate with SEN support, pastoral team, classroom teachers, and parents when needed.
  • Maintain regular professional development and clinical supervision.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Required Masters degree in social work, counselling, or psychology.
  • Preferred license or certification FSP, SGfB, LCP, LCSW, LPC or LMFT.
  • Experience in a similar role of 1-3 years
  • Fluency in English, work knowledge of French an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, discretion and team player
  • Ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload
  • Clear criminal extracts
