The Role

Bristol Myers Squibb is looking to recruit a permanent Senior Manager, MS&T APIto join our Pharma Manufacturing Science and Technology group. The role will be based in Dublin (Ireland) or Boudry (Switzerland). The Pharma Manufacturing Science and Technology group is responsible for the provision of technical expertise in the areas of API and Drug Product manufacture in an external manufacturing environment.

This Senior Manager, MS&T API role requires demonstrated experience of the technical management of processes relating to the manufacture of small molecule API.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Technical leadership and oversight for the manufacture of a portfolio of products (APIs, Intermediates and Starting Materials) produced at Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs) for Bristol Myers Squibb.
  • Ensuring robust process performance at our CMOs. Providing technical leadership for process monitoring, control and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Leadership and accountability for technology transfers.
  • Providing technical leadership in the understanding of root causes for manufacturing process deviations.
  • Providing technical leadership for change management, investigation CAPA identification and related activities at CMO site.
  • Driving strategies to improve processing efficiency and to ensure optimised technical support for manufacturing, technology transfer and process scale-up.
  • Supporting CMO/vendor selection – preparation of technical information packages, leading technical due diligence and site assessments, technical evaluation of RFIs and RFPs.
Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills Required
  • A graduate or post-graduate level qualification in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field with an extensive relevant experience.
  • Recognised technical leader and subject matter expert in API process development and commercial manufacture.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management and technical leadership capability.
  • Solid experience in commercial manufacturing of API in accordance with GMP standards in an external manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of process, engineering, analytical and regulatory requirements (cGMP, filing, EHS).
  • Demonstrated capability to lead complex technical investigations.
  • Thorough understanding of statistical process analysis and control methods.
  • Confident management of internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Highly proficient in technical writing and technical presentations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as the ability to translate technical issues into business impact and relevant solutions.
  • The position will require varying levels of travel - estimated at 20%.
