We are seeking for immediate hire or by arrangement, for our Global Research and Development Center based in Sierre, Switzerland, a Senior Metallurgy Scientist

Your Core Responsibilities

Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Lead innovation projects for development of new aluminum rolled products for the automotive market, with focus on high strengths and crash performance
  • Provide expertise in the field of aluminum flat rolled product metallurgy and develop understanding of the link between process, microstructure, and performance
  • Lead cooperations with universities to develop long term material solutions for sustainable design
  • Review literature, patents, and academic work
  • Support to the Novelis Europe Development Group and Customer Solution Center
Your Profile
  • Master or Ph.D degree in material science, metallurgy or material and design, with 10+ years of experience
  • Technical expertise in metallurgy, including microstructure, crystallographic texture, mechanical metallurgy. Knowledge of crystal plasticity is an advantage
  • Dynamic with excellent skills in a multicultural teamwork, flexible, fast learning and innovative spirit
  • Fluent in English, French and German are an advantage.
Location Profile

Novelis’ Sierre Plant is located in the Valais of Switzerland employing around 500 people. It mainly focuses on production of aluminium sheet for the automotive market covering the entire process from casting to finishing. The plant also hosts a world-leading Research & Innovation Center specialized in development of new automotive sheet alloys surface treatment and joining technologies. Sierre is nicknamed the “City of the Sun” with an average of 300 days of sunshine in proximity to skiing resorts and famous for its cheese and wine. The Sierre plant supports its community through direct sponsorship of many annual events promoting education sports and culture. In addition it supports student project at technical and high schools.
