Junior Data (R&D) Scientist - 5348 URAOur client is a leading global player in the Pharmaceutical industry with global headquarters in Basel, Switzerland. They are undergoing a transformation with respect to culture and outside perception. The organisation focusses on novel therapies in Oncology and Ophthalmology and is also currently developing a world-leading pipeline in Neuroscience and Dermatology with one of the strongest pipelines of Phase II/III studies in the world.We are currently looking for a highly motivated Junior Data Scientist to work on data analysis, processing and quality control as part of the Oncology Data Science team , supporting their cutting-edge oncology drug discovery programs and early-stage clinical trials.This role is 4 months contract position due to paternity leave based in Basel. It could be a great opportunity for someone who is between jobs and is looking for an exposure to work in global organisatons. This role allows you to work 3 days from office and 2 days from home. Seeking candidates with Bachelors or Masters educational background.Main Responsibilities
  • Impact early-stage clinical trials and drug discovery programmes by providing inputs into data quality control and data analysis
  • Writing code to process and analyse ‘omics data (high throughput screening, RNASeq, scRNASeq) in a high-performance computing environment
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to a range of data science projects depending on interest and skillset, including visualisation, data ingestion and processing, and computational modelling of biological processes
  • Establish business value creation applying Advanced Analytics and Data Engineering techniques on a variety of small, medium and big data.
  • Identify and solve scientific, operational and technical challenges, lead and manage solutions from ideation to structural requirements, design, implementation, rollout of the solutions and maintenance.
  • Timely execution of projects and data requests
Qualifications And Experience
  • Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required
  • Bachelor or Master degree or higher in Computational Science / Bioinformatics or a related discipline.
  • Excellent in english communication
  • Experience using the R programming language (Bioconductor / Tidyverse / RShiny).
  • Experience applying bioinformatics workflows and software to analyze and quality control RNA-seq datasets and other ‘omics data types
  • Some knowledge of biological sciences, genetics & genomics.
  • Clear communication to explain how and why an analytical method was used.
  • Experience with CUT&Tag datasets or deep molecular scanning (DMS) technologies
  • Experience processing clinical oncology datasets, including DNA datasets
