Kafka Specialist

For a United Nations Agency in Geneva and to perform onsite or hybrid, NTT Data is currently looking for a Kafka Specialist.. The consultant will contribute to the project to modernize the architecture of the Health Insurance Information System of the client.

TASKS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing Kafka consumer applications and streams to perform 2-way synchronization (Oracle-Kafka-MongoDB) including:

· Extracting data from Oracle to Kafka topics using Kafka Connect and Change Data Capture.

· Performing basic ETL to transform the topics into the correct target structure.

· Loading transformed data as MongoDB documents.

· Conversely, doing the synchronization and transformation from MongoDB back to Oracle.

· Creating the necessary tests to ensure delivered code is working as per requirements.

· Reviewing and configuring appropriate authentication and authorization mechanisms for consumers and producers.

· Recommending and implementing a monitoring tool for the Kafka cluster.

· Creating and delivering knowledge transfer training to development and production teams.

MONITORING and QUALITY CONTROLS

· Strict adherence to project timelines and tasks outlined in the Scope of Work.

· Code is delivered on time, with necessary automated tests, and at required level of quality.

· Recommendations provided on fine-tuning of Kafka cluster to achieve optimal performance.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE

Essential

· First degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or

· Statistics.

· 5 years in Software Development, Linux System Administration or in DevOps capacity.

· At least 2 years building and managing solutions using Apache Kafka.

· Experience in converting monolith applications into microservices architecture.

· Demonstrated experience using DevOps and CI/CD techniques (Jenkins, GIT, Docker).

· Able to train development and production teams.

· Strong knowledge of Kafka components, Kafka security model.

· Team player with a positive attitude and a solution driven mentality.

· Fluency in English.

Desirable

· Experience of building Kafka producers and consumers using Java/JVM languages.

· Demonstrated experience using Kafka components such as Kafka Connect and Kafka Streams.

· Experience using MongoDB and Oracle.

· Certifications such as Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka (CCDAK) or Confluent Certified Administrator for Apache Kafka (CCAAK).

· Strong problem solving/analysis skills in solution development and optimization.

· Experience in reactive Java programming and in building event-driven applications.

· Knowledge and experience using containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.

· Experience with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of Kafka clusters.

· Experience of modern architecture principles e.g., Immutable/Disposable/Replaceable Infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, Automate-all-the-things.

· Experience developing business applications within large and complex IT environments.

· Knowledge of French.
