Hobson Prior are currently seeking a Director Clinical Operations to join a fantastic biotech organisation on a permanent basis located in Basel. Our client is focused on influencing the future of cancer immunotherapies.

Key Responsibilities:

• The ideal candidate will be accountable for the operational preparation, execution and reporting of assigned clinical projects on time, on budget and with high quality to meet ICH-GCP and regulatory requirements as well as the company’s internal specifications.
• Responsible for the design, implementation and update of project plans.
• Oversees the development and review of trials specific service agreements, budgets, and timelines, and ensure that performance expectations are met.
• In collaboration with CPM and Finance department, oversees approval vendor payments and expenditures against contract and budget plan.
• Define and track project specific key performance indicators, identify gaps and inefficiencies of processes and propose suggestions for improvement.
• Defines and communicates financial and human resource needs for assigned projects to ensure the delivery of clinical data according to plan.
• Facilitates the vendor selection and contracting process and oversees vendor performance and budget management during the course of the clinical project.
• May travel to CRO/vendor facilities and/or investigator sites to assess or train personnel and processes where applicable.
• Manages preparation, forecast and oversight of the project budget including reporting to upper management.
• Develops risk management plans and risk mitigation strategies
• Proactively identifies issues, and ensures problems are documented and corrective actions and preventive measures are taken.
• Any other assigned duties.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment including profound conflict and change management skills.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, prioritisation and project management skills.

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate requires a Master’s degree or PhD in Life Sciences.
• Minimum 7+ years’ experience with leading global oncology trials (phase I-III).
• Fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a matrix structure.
• Advanced strategic planning capabilities.
• Excellent understanding of ICH-GCP requirements.
• Extensive operational clinical trial management know how including start-up, maintenance & close out.
• Experience in managing service providers and CRO to ensure sponsor oversight.
