The International School Zurich North is looking to appoint a Head of Secondary (to commence either April 2024 or August 2024).

The Head of Secondary will lead ISZN into the next, exciting, chapter of the school’s journey as we prepare to move into a brand-new campus in late 2024. The successful candidate will provide dynamic and inspirational leadership to the team in line with the school’s values. We are looking for someone with passion, ambition and a can-do attitude.

The Head of Secondary has responsibility for the day-to-day management and strategic development of the secondary campus.

The Head of Secondary is a member of the whole school leadership team and reports into the Executive Principal. In August 2024, the Secondary school will be relocating into a newly renovated campus (our new, combined campus, will be home to both the Primary and Secondary schools). The incoming Head of Secondary will be a key figure in ensuring a smooth transition and move to the new campus. We are looking for a Head of Secondary to join our Team in April or August 2024. An overview of the Head of Secondary’s responsibilities:

Professional:

• Will chair the Secondary leadership team.
• Overall responsibility for educational development and standards across the Secondary School.
• Lead pastoral care with oversight of the behaviour management and welfare of all students in the Secondary School.
• Collaborate with the whole school Senior Team and contribute to delivering the School Improvement Plan (SIP).
• Promote and champion the Secondary School and support the Head of Admissions in meeting prospective families.
• Ensure relevant policies and processes are implemented.
• Oversight of secondary administration (such as co-ordination of the weekly bulletin).
• Promote a culture of continuous professional development and develop a secondary PD programme.

Teaching and Learning:

• Provide vision and leadership in developing best practices in teaching and learning.
• Inspire and motivate the secondary staff in delivering academic excellence.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of outstanding Secondary practice and curriculum developments, in particular A-Level and (i)GCSE.

Pastoral:

• To have overall responsibility for the pastoral care of the Secondary students.
• Promote a culture of excellent standards of conduct and behaviour.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies as required.

Requirements

Essential

• An honours degree and an internationally recognised teaching qualification
• Proven leadership experience at a senior level
• A track record of continual self-development and professional training

Desirable

• Direct experience of the CIS accreditation process
• Entitled to work and live and Switzerland
• A Masters qualification in Education/Educational Leadership
