About Our Client

Job Description

This position of R&D Business Planning and Analysis Manager is dynamic, fast-paced, highly collaborative, and covers a broad range of R&D focused project planning, Finance, and other strategic topics.

You Will Work With Many Stakeholders And Especially With Global Project Managers And Senior Business Managers Across Various Functions To Manage Enterprise R&D Budget Planning, Leading Portfolio Analytics And Reporting To Optimize Portfolio Resource

• Prepare and coordinate forecast / budget with finance business partners, global project managers and development teams while actively challenging assumptions, reviewing results and ensuring data integrity
• Lead the analysis of cross-portfolio R&D cost reporting generating executive summaries financial and budget bridges for the R&D organisation to support strategic decision making by the Unit leadership
• Prepare and contribute key inputs in the development of high-quality presentations for internal & external stakeholders (New target selection, Financial planning etc.)
• Develop and deliver in-depth analysis and strategic insights into the pipeline/portfolio for senior management meetings, including development of automated views, reports, and metrics
• Co-lead development, implementation and continuous improvement of state-of-the-art R&D project management systems and tools including the financial reporting aspects of the Divisional Financial Project Steering implementation, including the processes and tools:

• Cost baseline setting, and variance management
• Resource forecasting algorithms
• Cost benchmarks, to support optimisation of internal operations and performance management

• Support the development of portfolio insights and strategic themes that inform and influence the enterprise R&D development costs
• Support advancing development teams with decision analysis and strategic insight to ensure alignment with portfolio priorities and advise teams on internal governance processes

The Successful Applicant

This Role Requires The Following Competencies And Skills

• Strong understanding of financial controlling, financial planning, and analysis in biopharma R&D
• Master degree or MBA with finance business and planning experience
• Previous experience in an R&D department
• Project management qualification (PMP / Prince2 / or equivalent) is a distinct advantage
• Knowledge of the drug development process with demonstrated insights in the global completive business environment
• Knowledge of Project & portfolio management in biopharma R&D
• Demonstrated ability to influence without formal authority & establish sturdy cross-functional partnerships in a matrix organization
• Proficient in handling complex financial figures with in-depth expertise in forecasting and validation methodologies
• Problem-solving & strong analytical skills (Financial modelling, Excel Macros) to process large volumes of complex information, distil, and convey insights and opportunities
• Strong competence using business intelligence software (PowerBI, IBM Cognos Analytics, SAP BW & SAP Analytics Cloud). Also, experience in R, and/or SQL is a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and information management skills as demonstrable in oral management presentations, succinct PowerPoint stories and layout, as well as structured syntheses and recommendations
• Solid organization skills and process orientation
• Fluency in English essential, both oral and written
• Additional languages (German or French) are an added asset
