Veramaris is leading the revolution in new, sustainable feed and food ingredients. Fish, cats, dogs, farm animals and even people, can now grow and remain healthy on a diet of EPA & DHA Omega-3 from natural marine algae. We all need EPA & DHA Omega-3 for our health and well being, but our oceans simply cannot provide enough for us all from our traditional source, wild fish that provides fish oil, as our ocean fisheries are either overfished or fished to the maximum. .

The Role
In order to support the company’s vision and strategy, Veramaris is now seeking to recruit a highly motivated “Global Marketing & Communications Director” reporting to Karim Kurmaly the CEO of Veramaris.

In this role, you will be defining and executing the company’s marketing strategy to make Veramaris a runaway success in the marketplace. You will refine and market the key value propositions and adapt these to each key target group for maximum impact. You will develop plug n play marketing toolkits to help clients (farmers, brand owners, processors and retailers) win with their marketing, of farmed seafood and pet foods. You will also make Veramaris shine at tradeshows and conferences, and you will turn the company into a thought leader in the science of Omega-3, as applied to both animal and human health benefits. You will be running great marketing campaigns and manage inbound and digital channels to drive leads and prospects into and through our marketing and sales funnel. Lastly, you will be working closely with key stakeholders and engage the entire value chain; from feed company and fish farmer to the final consumer outlet, be that retail or food service.

Overall responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Develop and execute agreed marketing strategy understanding the value chain (farmer to shopper) and ensuring focus on the right segments with the right value proposition tailored to each stakeholder.

  • Apply your understanding of the market dynamics (changes in competition, customers, stakeholders and value chain) to tune both business and marketing strategy.
  • Establish best in class marketing and communication platforms and be responsible for the implementation of the marketing and communications plan.

  • Collaborate with a team of retail developers, communications professionals, both internal external, plus a range of agencies, to deliver the mentioned plan within a significant marketing budget.

  • Develop toolkits across our different stakeholders to assist them in realising the value of switching from fish oil to Veramaris natural marine algal oil
    • Retail tool kit: that enables retailers to sell value & grow the category with its shoppers. Key objective is to enhance the shoppers experience and willingness to pay for higher value farmed seafood.
    • Farmers tool kit: that enables salmon & shrimp farmers to develop their products, up-market their brand and capture value. Key objective is to enable farmers to make an impact at the shopper interface.
    • Pet tool kit: that enables pet food manufacturers to create products that will help them win share in the market place through strengthened sustainability and pet health propositions.

  • Intensify industry relationships, maintain thought leaderships and work with KOLs, and generate leads for future customers (and customer’s customers) within the value chain.

  • Develop marketing strategy for product launches and implementation of new products and services.

  • Develop key performance indicators based on marketing plans and strategies vs budget, including penetration, quality of launch and timeliness of implementation.

  • Ensure consistent Veramaris branding.

What experience is required ?
You are a seasoned and senior level consumer seafood brand marketer, who also has (fresh/frozen) food category experience from a retailer and/or HORECA. You have a demonstrated ability to build value and differentiation in the farmed seafood category through product innovation and brand marketing / activation. You are experienced in building a “retail proposition” and /or “HORECA propositions” to present to retailers’ and HORECA category teams to drive category growth in collaboration with supply chain (producers/processors) and (retail/HORECA) customers. You also have experience of Norwegian Salmon production and/or shrimp aquaculture, understand the route to market.,

Digital and inbound marketing are familiar concepts to you, and you have fresh ideas on how to apply it to a “B2 value chain” reality in order to excite our stakeholders (farmers to retail/HORECA) along their marketing and sales funnel journey. You have university degree at least at an MSc level.

In addition, you may or may not have some these experiences and competencies: (1) Food Service, (2) experience in ingredient branding, or branded certifications or eco-labels such as ASC, BAP, MSC, Fairtrade, etc, (2) Transferrable skills or experience from other (fresh) food categories (3) Knowledge of consumer research, (4) Experience in B2B marketing, including trade show organisation (5) Corporate brand building, or you hail from Blue-chip FMCG marketing organisations (Unilever, P&G, CocaCola, L’Oréal, Heinz, Mondelez, etc.) (6) Speak Norwegian.
